My niece got hitched

I have a niece who moved to Hawaii last summer to be with her boyfriend who's in the service. They got engaged on Christmas Eve and decided to get married in HI in June. I wasn't going to get to go because we already have a cruise planned in September that isn't paid for yet. Last night she sent an email announcing that they got married on Feb 10th and would be coming back to MI in the fall for a reception. This makes me very happy.

I was thinking that the 10th was just recently, but it was before Valentine's Day. So last weekend when my SIL (the mother of the bride) asked if she could borrow some luggage - she had no idea that they were already married. I'm seeing her later today and I'll ask her when she found out. I know she wasn't putting on an act because she absolutely cannot keep a secret.

That's wonderful! I'm so happy for her. I bet HI is a beautiful place for a wedding.

OK, the details are: They got married at the COurthouse. They had a few friends with them, but no real attendants. Apparently they didn't even need anyone to sign the wedding certificate. She wore a pretty pink skirt and a cream satin-looking blouse.

And my SIL DID know they were already married, but she said she wasn't lying or acting when she asked about the luggage because last week the happy couple was still talking about having a reception in HI in June. Thy got married earlier for financial reasons. He's in the military and she has insurance now, his pay went up, etc. She said that piece of paper really helps.

in '92, DH and I went to HI with friends from CA... we were staying at their time share... in Maui, a couple was getting married on the cliff... Eleanor and I decided to get join the wedding... so walked out of the condo and went and stood with the family/friends gathered for the ceremony... no one knew and no one cared, and it was beautiful!
