There are days I just shouldnt get up
after the living room painting and shelve crap, I planned on not doing much other than my normal cleaning for a while.
Then a day before yesterday my fridge went out. just up and died. Now, I'll be honest, there aint no emergancy fund around here. and the cheapest I could find around here was in the 800 plus range. I ended up taking my fridge to a repair shop, and they had some fridges there. So, for 345.00 I got a stainless front fridge. We measured and loaded it up. Got home and it wouldnt fit through the front door. Now mind you, I have a small kitchen, The table, stove and chairs were all covered with crap from and on the old fridge, plus I had kept all the shelves and bins. It had taken us 2 1/2 hours to get the old one cleaned out, up and into the truck.
We got home and the fridge wouldnt fit through the front door. seriously. so off the doors came.
It came in, just barely. and we went to stick it in the hole. 3/4 inch too big. there are cabinets on either side, so we tried to just jam it in there. No go..
then we proceeded to take the cabinet out between the fridge and the oven. there was a few inches around the oven, so it could schooch over some.
we did get it pluged in, and the water hooked up. There was a small leak, I just couldnt get it right. but BR tightened it and it stopped.
The water never would come out of the door. so we decided to change the water filter. I drove back into town for the 3rd time (I had overslept and had to drive the kids in, then the trip for the fridge). when I got home BR said that he had put back in the cabinet, secured it back to the wall and the stove wouldnt fit. so he took it back out and put it on the table saw adn cut some off. Everything fit perfect now.
oh and do you know how bad it looks behind your fridge and stove? seriously? a family of 10 could have survived on the crap back there for a year.
so we plugged in the new filter (30.00) and still no water. I asked BR a few times if he had turned it back on after he tightened it up for me. finally we pulled it back out. and come to find out - no it wasnt turned on. We scrubbed it inside and out and messed with the water some more.
By now the kids are home, hungry , thirsty, and under our feet. I didnt have anything to cook quickly, couldnt see my counters, or sink, to even make some koolaid and really didnt care.
so we started to load the things back into the fridge and freezer that were still good. Not much.. Luckily most of the freezer stuff was still frozen when we started and so it was in a cooler.
Then we found a puddle of water on the floor. The damn line was leaking where it went into the fridge. Its like a 7ft copper line. and it was getting torqued when we pushed the fridge back.
okay, we opted at 8pm to turn it off, heck, we havent had water or ice in the door in over a year anyway, this wasnt a big deal, till I could get a plstic line.
I got all the bad food ready for the hogs, tried to find a place to put the stuff off the top of the fridge (it will be pulled back out soon, no sense in stacking it up again), cooked supper and washed the shelves out of the old one while everyone ate. I washed up the dishes from supper, and started the dishwasher for the first time that day (its hot and loud and we didnt want to deal with it while we were in there working) then I came in here to just SIT.
I hadnt gotten sat down good yet and Bow was in my lap, ready to nurse to go to sleep. The kids hadnt done their homework, and my living room was now a disaster. I started sending kids to bed. and there went BR. he was tired and dirty and showering and going to bed.
I FINALLY got the kids to stop jumping around, and got Bow to sleep. I usually try to stay up and enjoy a few minutes of quiet after this, but was just so dang tired.
So, I headed to bed, my room is a catch all. Its got the stuff still in it that I havent found a place for since I painted the living room (all I wanted was 4 shelves put up...), there are huge plastic gun cases sitting on the floor cause BR cleaned out his side and got it all fixed, putting alot of stuff on my side, and his work clothes are piled in the floor. anyway, on my way to pee, I caught my last two toes on my right foot on something and broke them. seriously broke them. have you ever hurt so bad you couldnt talk? or even cry? it was all I could do to breathe...
Now I have a seriously disusting house, I need to sweep and mop, rearrange the kitchen, clean up my bedroom, have about 15 loads of laundry (my kids cleaned their room over the weekend), need to vacuum, and clean up my bathroom (oh... BR had started the bathroom remodel (taking out the garden tub to move my washer/dryer in there) while I was gone to town after he fixed the cabinet but had to stop mid way because there is no shut off for the water to the tub.....),
I cant put any pressure even on my heel, and this morning, on my way to fix rayleys hair, Brett thought he would help by insising on me leaning on him. He stepped on my toes.
I have kicked sippy cups, a 60 pound tool box, had the door shut on it (thanks Bow), and he keeps jumping up on my chair on it, or running into it. or just stepping on me while I am trying to walk..
I had to drive left footed to the end of the driveway today to take the kids to the bus- and tomorrow I HAVE to go and get groceries. I needed to go today, but I just cant.

Oh Chelle! Toes are so freaking painful. I can't imagine how bad it hurt to break two at once.
Make BR do all the work for a few days and you just sit and keep that foot elevated.

Re: There are days I just shouldnt get up
BUT, on the bright side... BR was already off, he couldnt work yesterday because he was out of hours, so no money lost there. The fridge was a total of 345. (cause I got a new front for the buttons that were messed up), not 1,000.00 for a less pretty one (I have always wanted stainless....), we owned all the tools needed to destroy the kitchen (this usually doesnt happen.. like for the shelves, BR had to buy a jigsaw so he could cut a flippin rounded edge and not just have a corner... like the skill saw wouldnt do that... LOL ) AND I could have broken my foot, which would have resulted in an ER visit, then I am sure surgery because I had reconstructive surgery back in highschool, and have pins and screws in my feet, plus there was some complications, so I have arthritis in them, and issues with the pins and screws being too big. SInce I dont have insurance this would have been pretty bad.
