Re: My fall:(
I hope it starts feeling better instead of worse real soon. That swelling has got to be painful. It just looks so tender to the touch. Kind of gives me the shivers when I think about it.

Re: My fall:(
Thanks all, they didn't find a fracture but because of the swelling there a little worried that there could be one hidden.....so I have to go back in a couple weeks. The meds help a bit but I can only take them at night so days are a bit rough, just getting used to do everything one handed as even without a fracture it will take 4-6 weeks. So hopefully they don't find anything to extend that time frame

Re: My fall:(
You poor thing! I hate that you have to have it re-x-rayed because they'll probably charge for that, too. Do you have anyone helping you around the house? I bet every little thing becomes a major deal. You can't even zip up your jeans one handed, much less button a shirt or cut your food.
Re: My fall:(
Don't be surprised if they don't call you in a few days and say they found a fracture. Sometimes they don't show up right away on the xrays.
I'm sorry you are still in pain, and are miserable. I wish you could find something that would give you a bit of relief.

Re: My fall:(
I honestly wouldn't be surprised with the way it feels BuzzNut as I was in less pain the last time I broke a bone... Karen, I live alone in a 1BR apartment so everything is a challenge....thanks for the positive messages all!

Re: My fall:(
I, for one... am ticked off at how much $$ doctors are getting paid nowadays. $400K+ a year?! WHAT?!!
Re: My fall:(
If they don't make that much they can't pay their malpractice insurance bill. It's the legal and insurance systems that have frigged everything up. A Dr. working in a hospital situation will most likely have the cost of malpractice insurance included in their benefits package, but physicians in private practice need to absorb that themselves. Either way, we're the ones who pay in the end.
I would imagine that the average MD graduates with around 500K in school loan debt, too, so they'll have heavy loan payments over the next 10 years after graduation.
I heard a woman MD on NPR explaining how she has negotiated with a lab so that her patients who have to be monitored a couple times a year for things like diabetes can get their lab work done and have a quick office visit for $70 OOP. I was so impressed with her and her ability to see things from her patients' shoes and try to find a solution to help them. There are some really good eggs out there who are trying to think outside the box to fix some of the problems.
