Has anyone ever posted/listed an item on ebay?
Does it cost you anything if you don't get any bids? How do you figure shipping? Anything you can tell me would be a help. In July it will be time for Margit studio to take Senior pictures for those who are to graduate in 2010. Wynonna has an appt set up for July 16th. Every senior has to have a pic taken for the yearbook (to put in the yearbook is free) but if we want any pics besides that we have to pay$$$. So I was thinking on posting an auction for 5 semi-formal dresses of Wynonna's from her past Sem-formals, and Snowball dances. I want to list the 5 as a lot so I don't have to mess with 5 different auctions. If I can get a decent amount I can use it to put down on a picture package for Margit or to pay for a package (probably a smaller one). Can anyone give me any hints/tips for listing auctions?

Re: Has anyone ever posted/listed an item on ebay?
It has been a long time since I posted anything on ebay. But if I am remembering right they do charge you for the ad, but if it doesn't sell you can relist free. The fee is based on your starting price, picture/pictures, what type of ad etc. Plus you get charged a final selling fee, and I dont remember what that was now. Don't take my word for it because it may have all changed since I done it last. As for the shipping, some charge a flat rate shipping fee, and most of those are inflated. When I listed, I always boxed my stuff up and weighed the box and entered the weight. That way when ever someone put their zip in, they knew right off how much it would be to ship.
But like I say it has been a looongggg time since I have listed on ebay and things may have changed.

Are these pics okay? Or should I take them differently? I only have pics of her in 2 of the dresses, should I post the pics with her in them and the other pics or just the pics of them hanging or the ones of them laying flat?

I personally would not post her in the pics. There is alot of weirdo's out there. I would post just the dresses. Keep in mind too that they charge for each pic you post, or they used to anyway. You should be able to go to ebay and look under selling info to get details of how much they charge.

I agree, I would not put her in there, or at least crop off her head or something.
Re: Has anyone ever posted/listed an item on ebay?
Wouldn't you also do better, by selling each one separate? Granted I dunno how much these dresses cost.
ITA, I wouldn't put pics of your daughter up. Maybe cut off her head?

I would do them separately as well. I haven't sold anything in a long time, I use to love ebay. Did you try Craigslist? Less BS

Oh gosh I didn't see where you were talking about selling in a lot. Yep I got to agree, I'd sell them seperate.

I would try Craigslist first perhaps. See what kind of bites you get. If anything good. Then if your not happy take a look at past auctions on eBay to see if anyone has sold something similar. If so how much they got.

Thanks all, I wasn't planning on keeping her face in the pics, but thought it was hard to see how the dress looked with it laid out flat, I may try Craiglist though, I never thought of it!

Just listed on Craigslist minus the pics of her in them. Actually I could only post 4 photos, so I posted 4 and said I could e-mail pics of the 5th if someone was interested..I never would have thought of Craigslist

I always do craigslist first before I go to ebay. Good luck!

Also, let her take her pic with the high priced folks for the yearbook, then find a semi professional photog. They are much cheaper. and usually MUCH nicer. they want your buisiness and are not snobby.
it might be hard to sell them right now, its not prom season. try a consignment shop in your area. ads in the free paper. etc. But I wouldnt do ebay. I used to make a decent living on ebay. havent in years. AND they have gotten crappier since I quit selling there. I still have lots of friends who try to live off their sells. they have all branched out. using differnt sites.

I have to agree with Chelle. One of our assistant managers brought in his memory card and downloaded pics for us to print last Sunday. He had done pics for one of the seniors and you couldn't tell it was not done professionally. The mom came to pick up the pictures and make enlargements, and I asked her where he took those. She said he done them on her front porch and you couldn't tell they were even done outside. They were perfect. They got professional looking pics for a fraction of the cost.

Ebay charges even if the item does not sell, but you can relist one time for free.

Re: Has anyone ever posted/listed an item on ebay?
Ebay is struggling because of their downward spiral and greedy fees. If they were still in their heyday I doubt if we'd be getting bonus offers from MyPoints trying to lure us into purchasing something there.
I hope you get some offers on Craigslist. Did you specify a price? Are you selling them as a lot?
