Stupid dishwasher question

Do you HAVE to use jet dry or a rinse aid? My new dishwasher has a light that won't go off until we put some in, but DH is convinced it will leave a residue on the dishes. so, do you?

No, but it really does help them get cleaner. The modern ones are made to have it in the machine so they really won't rinse as well without it.

Mine doesn't have anything in it..... it doesn't work w/ my hard water at all. Some people have put vinegar inside it, but I throw vinegar in my final rinse to help w/ hard water deposits, etc. I know you didn't ask about that, but if you don't want to put anything in it, try vinegar and see if it'll help w/ the light.

I will try that, the Jet dry makes the dishes feel slimy....ick

Dh is convinced it also leaves some sort of cancer causing residue....but he is paranoid.
