Where's everyone from?
Southern Canada here. The best way I've found to describe where I am to Americans is this: If you go from Niagara Falls to Detroit and take the short cut through Canada, I'm about half way between them.
Canada crossing
Years ago, hubby and I lived in MI, we took a trip from Detroit to Niagra Falls... so most likely went thru your town!

You were probably really close to where I am! Sounds like you've lived all over!
hi
Hi tara... welcome. NY, except for the snow, isn't a bad place to be from!

I'm in ND, but most recently from MN, before that St. Louis, MO, Atlanta, Detroit and grew up in San Fran....That song "I've been everywhere", feels like me.

Snow Country!!! I was borned and raised in MI, Grand Rapids area... also snow country! That's why we now live in the South (although last weekend we did have 6-7" of snow, largest for this area in over 10 years!) Of course, as typical of the south, it was half gone by afternoon and all gone by the next day.

My son is living in GR now, going to school at GVSU. We aren't ever going to be able to take the big city out of him now...he loves it! I think GR is a great area myself, except all the crazy traffic!

Re: Where's everyone from?
Hi everyone. I am in southern Missouri, very close to Arkansas. We have lived in the Ozarks for about 12 years now. I was born in Ill, then at 21 moved to New Orleans. Met and married my husband there and we later moved back to Ill. After living there for some time, we moved here.

Re: Where's everyone from?
Thanks Chelle! My kitty is named Puddin. As for Honey, that is what my hubby and I call each other. I decided it would be punny to use in the BeeLog

Re: Where's everyone from?
Are any of you from Kentucky near Rineyville? I think that's the name of the town my dog came from. He's the only "person" I know from Ky off the top of my head.

Rineyville, near Elizabethtown, south and a little east of Louisville. I'm about 3 hours SW of that area.
How is it a person from Canada has a 4-legged person from KY? He must have been pretty special to go such a distance! Does he bark with a southern drawl?

The yellow & black stripe bee avatar has nothing to do with being a bzz agent... just a coincidence there... that bee and I have been together a lot longer than the Hive has been in existence

Hi everyone! I'm from Wisconsin, about an hour from Madison. I'd normally say this is snow country too, but since it's been 40 degrees plus the last couple of days, our snow is (finally) leaving us!!!! Spring must be right around the corner, because we have hundreds of Canadian geese flying overhead at all hours of the day and night!
Good to meet everyone!

Wow, I have a dog from KY, too!
Seriously, I'm from Berea, KY, which is right under Lexington. On the map of KY, it would be about straight down from the tallest part about halfway to the bottom of the state.
Re: Where's everyone from?
It's a long story! We always had a dog when I was growing up. They always came from the local rescue and my dad is great at not looking at the appearance or breed of the dog, but picking a dog that would fit into our family. Both of our dogs lived lived to ripe old ages -- they were house dogs, but we lived in the country with 20 acres of ravine so it was dog heaven!thebigscott wrote:bizzeedee wrote:Rebecca1340 wrote:Are any of you from Kentucky near Rineyville? My husband had never had a dog before, but did have a cat. After 7 years I finally talked him into letting me seriously look at dogs. I found an ad for a dog that was listed as a border collie for $150. I thought they must have forgotten to mention that he was a cross breed, but I'm not into breeding or pedigrees so a mutt is fine with me. I actually figured that if he was a cross breed it would be better for the kids (they were 3 and 4 at the time) -- my cousins used border collies with their cows and I still remember their dogs herding me when I was a kid!
When we went to meet the dog I could see that he was most likely a purebred, but compared to the working dogs I had known he was pretty laid back and good with the kids. When we all agreed that he seemed like a good match to our family the lady I was buying him from said she had some papers to give us. I just thought she had vet records to go along with him. Instead she brought me his registration papers. Apparently she had brought him up from Kentucky as a puppy intending to breed him, but had to move into an apartment and realized that was no life for a border collie and sold him instead. So I wound up with a purebred dog from Kentucky when all I was really looking for was a nice family dog.
