Fancy pants
Scott's school is having a staff Christmas dinner tonight at Boone Tavern, which is the fanciest restaurant (and hotel) in town. We have to dress up because they have a dress code. I'm wearing a very nice top, but I wear skirts and heels for no one, so I'm in black velvet pants (that feel as comfy as sweats ) and flats that I wear all the time. I look OK. Scott looks very nice. He's lost about 40 lbs in the past 3 months.
Re: Fancy pants
I didn't take pictures. But I'm still in my clothes, so maybe Scott can take one once he gets done bringing in the firewood.
We had a very nice time, mostly because we scat out of there early and went to the movie, LOL. Just before we left, Zaven gave me a $20 and said he wanted us to go see a movie on him. He's such a good kid. Anyhow, we had a nice dinner (chicken, beef stroganoff, dirty-mashed potatoes, green beans, sauteed squash, salad, cherry cobbler, iced tea) and the food was good. Not great, but good. We sat next to the ROTC instructor and his wife turned out to be the neice of one of Scott's dad's best friends. She's also the sister to our nurse practitioner whom I love. So it was fun to meet her and tell a few funny stories on her late uncle. Scott and I both knew him and liked him and it was a bit like meeting a relative of our own.
Then they started the Christmas gift swap which was done in the form of a long drawn out game. Each person had the option of bringing a $5 gift in a gift bag and you would draw numbers and open gifts but if you liked someone else's better you could steal theirs and replace it with your own. Well there were like 60 people there and it would have taken forever, and we hadn't brought a gift to begin with so we'd just be watching everyone. So we made the excuse that we needed to check on the kids and we left and went to the movies. We saw The Day the Earth Stood Still and it was good. But this was a brand spanking new theatre, less than a month old, and the movie had a bunch of glitches half way through. So after the movie, I made Scott stop and say something and they told us they knew there were problems and gave us rainchecks to see another movie. So I gave them to Zaven when we got home. He still got to treat us to a movie (we weren't out any of our own money) and he got his change and two movie passes. He's quite happy with the deal.
