Just had to share...
Posted this on my myspace blog, but I had to share with you guys too!
The Tim's and I just went on a little road trip. We had to pick up something in a town about 10 miles north, so after that failed attempt, we decided to explore. Went up into Wisconsin for a bit. Gas is $3.65 there! Then headed back towards home. Found out where the other beach is in this area, and then headed west a bit. Coming down a road, Tim pointed out to be careful of some big birds crossing the road. I slowed down and what was it??
TURKEYS!! lol... gobble, gobble
Found out where an apple orchard is, so I will be finding out when they open. They are about 15 minutes, if even, from the house! Just down a road we hadn't traveled before.
Came home, twisted up his hair (pictures later) and now getting some work done before we dog sit for the neighbors. =)
**Found out that there are about 3 apple orchards in this town, so this one will be our little family outing. There is a bigger one that has an hour wait to just get into the parking lot, that we will be going to with the neighbors. Guess they make awesome donuts!
I saw so many farms with horses while we were driving that I was about to die. I need to find a ranch to take some lessons at so that I can have an excuse to ride a horse again. I did when I was 13 when I went down to Mexico, and I want to do it again. It was so nice and peaceful and fun!
It was nice to finally explore more of the area, and we were in Wisconsin for about an hour just driving, and found some more places to check out on another outing!
There are 2 beaches in this town, one is at a state park and the other is on a camping ground. We plan on trying to get to that one probably Labor Day weekend, before they close. I know it will be packed, most likely, but last weekend to swim! lol

I love finding new places close to home. Simple things like that are a great joy.

Re: Just had to share...
Sounds fun Missy. I got stuck in a traffic jam the other day, thought it was an accident. Nope turns out the Hess station had gas at 3.46 a gallon and they were backed up for a good mile and a half. I had just filled up on the way there at the reservation for 3.69 a gallon

For Thanksgiving! Ha ha ha... okay, that was lame. lol
We think that they may have gotten loose from a turkey farm, but my neighbor mentioned seeing some wild turkeys a couple weeks ago, so I dunno. I didn't think they ran wild around here. But i am learning something new here every day!
And it was nice to get out. We were driving for about 2 hours or so and we were all over, wow, we just looked at the map as to where we were. But it was a fun drive.
Today now is a relaxing one. Chilly. Tim might go down the street to go fishing with a friend, but not sure on that one yet. 10 am and only 63 degrees so far.
Re: Just had to share...
The turkeys crossed the road because they are so frickin' stupid. Seriously, these birds would be extinct if they weren't protected.

Re: Just had to share...
lol... you are right Lori. lol I am terrified of birds when they fly, well, in general. I've been chased by huge pelicans at the zoo once. It was not as funny as the person I was with at the time may have thought.
