I'm a MyPoints Whore
I admit it, I've turned into a real MyPoints whore. I have placed 2 Lancome orders that I never would have if it hadn't offered so many points(2,000 for one and 2,500 for the other). And Overstock.com is high on my list of shops to look at first - it pays 10 points per dollar and the shipping fee is practically nonexistant. I needed a summerweight blanket for our bed and ordered 2 books and Bam! An easy 620 points. Yes, they're pending, but I'm all over them as soon as they clear.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
I don't always remember my whoring ways, either. We were on vacation and needed 2 nights in a hotel near Denver. What did I do? Called the hotel directly on the phone! Argh! I could have purchased the hotel I wanted through Priceline and received points. Still kicking myself over that one. If anyone needs any Priceline tips, I'm a Priceline whore, too.

I have made a few purchases just to get points, including my free credit report from experion that i canceled 2 days late so my 250 points ended up costing me $30!! no more of those free trials for me.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
Oh man, I draw the line at offers where you have to sign up for "free" trials. But I've always ordered from Overstock.com so it's nothing new for me. I have to keep reminding myself to look at the list of MyPoints partners before I make a purchase. I really wish the site would be a little faster. The speed thing gets on my last nerve.

I called and canceled my RealPlayer SuperPass right in time. But I was worried, because I didn't know if the man I spoke with was a recording or French.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
I wish the darn golf store my DH keeps buying from was on there. I would have a zillion points by now.
I need to figure it out and give it a try. So far I just do the bonus mail.

I have my fingers crossed that they will add some new stores as partners, too. I'll bet they add them all the time.mrschia wrote:I wish the darn golf store my DH keeps buying from was on there. I would have a zillion points by now.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
A tip for those who want to do the free offers - I use Google Calendar, which is free, and I have it set up to email me reminders when items on my calendar come up. So, I'll add it to my calendar to cancel a week before the deadline, and it'll email me. It works very well.

Google Calendar? But isn't that just a part of Google/Gmail? I have never even seen it on MP. That is weird.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
It's a different service. You can even 'share' calendars. You'll need a Google login but I don't think you need to use Gmail (I do anyway).

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
I use Gmail, and I already use Calendar. So MyPoints isn't where you get points for using Calendar?

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
I don't think it's a points thing Racheal. I think you can set up e-mail reminders to cancel accounts before you end up having to pay for them. So, when you sign up for something, go into to Google Calendar and set it to remind you a few days BEFORE you would have to pay!
At least if I'm reading the posts correctly.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
LOL...okay...I didn't equate Calendar with canceling trial memberships. For some reason I thought you guys were talking about using it to get points.
It's been THAT kind of week.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
Here's another example of where I draw the line for Points. This is a MyPoints Bonus Points email and I'm wondering if anyone is going to do this. Not me, especially since it's an OTX survey afterwards.!

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
They are ALWAYS OTX surveys. ANd I think I have actually qualified for one once. If that. I sometimes do them just to get the 10 points. Inevitably they tell me I'm not qualified after asking me a bunch of questions and then ask me if I want to try to qualify for another one! I just tell them no and take my 10 points because back when I was dumb and tried to qualify for different ones they sent me into endless loops where they just kept asking me more and more questions and never qualifying me ... and in the meantime they got tons of information for FREE.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
Yep, that's OTX all right. HATE THEM! Hate Greenfield Online, too.
I usually do the 10 point surveys because I assume I will disqualify, but this one involves keeping a conversation diary and then taking a post-survey. Sounds like a lot of writing and a lot of work when you aren't told upfront how many points you'll get. You can qualify for UP TO 220 points.

Re: I'm a MyPoints Whore
I have to agree with you all on the surveys. OTX is a headache. I purposely try to disqualify for the survey and just get the 10 points. It usually only takes me a minute or so. But it is easy, when they ask do you or any family or friends work in any of the following fields, just check some of them off. Usually, BINGO you did not qualify.......LOL........ and I get my 10 points.
