Yep, now that the Easter Bunny has been here the kids actually thought they were going to be able to have chocolate for breakfast this morning! I'll be glad when all that chocolate is gone!

LOL Rebecca! I haven't bought any Easter candy yet. Going out to buy some from the markdowns today. Hubby says I better get a basket made for our daughter who comes home from college on Wed. He says - she may not say it, but you know she wants one. I am sure he is right, but at least I will get a bargain Very Happy

I don't think you're ever too old to believe in the Easter bunny!

Doesn't everybody eat chocolate for breakfast? It's good for you. If you can eat cold pizza for breakfast, why not chocolate? Well dark chocolate, that is Very Happy

I can justify pizza -- cheese, veggies, it can't be that bad for you. Chocolate takes a little more work to justify when you have a 3 year old who's hyper enough before you add any sugar!

I just got back from shopping.. we have a chocolate maker here in town and they have things buy one get one free.
so I bought some ..

When my kids were little.. each of the four had a basket..
in it ai would put 2 books to read , new crayons, new play doh, a coloring book, a sketch pad ... and one big thing..
a sweatshirt... one year they all got sheets for the bed ( don't laugh, two of them still have theirs!!!)

then we had a community basket on the table with the chocolate... lol

it worked for us..

then at christmas.. i would again give 2 books to read , new crayons, new play doh, a coloring book, a sketch pad ... and then other gifts..
we always had something to do at my house!

as for chocolate for breakfast?

sometimes things like that just happen............................... lol!

That's a good idea Kath. We do something along the same lines. I buy a package of those little foil wrapped chocolate eggs for the kids to hunt for. When they find one they put it into the same bowl. There is also a bunny for each of them. They each also get a small toy -- last year it was colouring books and crayons, this year it was a car. My parents also get them a bunny and a small toy and my sister usually gets them a bunny as well. This year they got a colouring book and crayons from one of the WW II vets at my mom's work (she works at a small military museum here in town) who gets a big kick out of them whenever he sees them at the museum.

Chocolate for Breakfast Empty Re: Chocolate for Breakfast

Post by thebigscott Mon Mar 24, 2008 2:27 pm

My mother-in-law always tells the story of the first time she and her neices and nephews (same age she was) got chocolate bunnies for Easter. They lived way out in the middle of nowhere, and even though they had Easter baskets and had candy and chocolate, they hadn't ever seen a chocolate bunny and didn't even know they existed. When they showed up in their baskets one year (covered in foil) none of the kids realized they were candy. They thought they were toys and took them outside to play with them. My mother-in-law was the first one to realize, so she started eating it's ears, and her nephew saw her bite a chunk out of it and still thinking it was a toy went running into the house to tattle on her for breaking it. albino
