Christmas Night, it was merry Empty Christmas Night, it was merry

Well we woke (actually went to bed) with a very white Christmas morning...neighborhood kids were making snowmen/having snowball fights, keeping in mind they got up much earlier than I did LOL

Chuck made us some yummy thick cut French toast for breakfast then we opened presents, one each at a time. You all might remember we decided to do a Dollar Tree Christmas (10 item limit) plus another gift that could be up to $25. Well he surprised me (and cheated) as I got at least 13 Dollar Store items plus a most beautiful fleece robe ( to replace my 27 year old chennel he bought me) and Isontoner slippers replacing some 5 year old ones) and those are all I wanted for Christmas (which I know for Chuck is a real challenge LOL

Fixed a really nice peppercorn pork loin, mashed sweet with white potatoes, gravy, stovetop (copout but good) and cranberry sauce and also brocolli...

A very good day... and we still have snow and possibly more tomorrow...

Hope you all got what you had hoped for and enjoyed spending time with family.

Sounds like a nice day! I had to work so I made the turkey and trimmings for the guys at the group home. By the time I got home shortly after 7 AM, dh was making pancakes for the kids in an effort to get them to wait for me to open their presents. Once they opened their presents I went to sleep for a few hours. Then we went out to my mom and dad's for our turkey supper. I had to work last night too so no Boxing Day sales for me this year. I'm sure I'll get out later in the week though.

LOL Boxing Day... I forget that's what the day after Christmas is called in CA...

I didn't do any shopping today... roads were okay, as most snow is gone front streets, but I just don't do crowds...

Rebeccca, seems this last storm blast is staying way east of you... but Althena is getting it now... gosh, NY sounds horrible... she said she woke to snow this morning.

Freakiest snow storm I ever remember... at Christmas or any other time, where it hits the south and the total eastern seaboard!

Happy to know that by the the end of the week, we'll be close to 50 or better with just thunderstorms (and as DH says, probably tornados!)

Oh, and pancakes for Christmas morning, very much like French toast, being made by DH is a real treat!

I cooked a Turkey, and the other stuff, and then took a 3 hour nap on the couch with Mike, super exciting.

We always beat the "kids" (19-23) up by 3-4 hours. We lounged around, and DH made omelets for breakfast, then I cooked turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy, roasted brussels sprouts, cranberry orange sauce, and pumpkin pies. My dad and niece ended up coming for dinner and to stay the night, too.

When it was time for pie, I discovered that I had forgotten to add sugar. Hahaha! I actually was pretty amused by this, and the horror of the kids. Mom ruined Christmas! Later, I decided to try to salvage the uncut pie (a couple of us ate it with some sugar sprinkled on top) by scooping out the innards, mixing in some sugar, and spooning it back into the crust. While I was waiting for the oven to preheat, the dog pulled the pie off the counter and it landed upside down on the floor.

Double Fail on the pumpkin pie this year! But it was still funny.

We had a nice Christmas. Busy, but nice. I actually woke up before my kids (3 & 6) and had to get them up. Went to in-laws for a few hours then to my parents for a few hours. Ate both places and didn't have to cook a thing.... just the way I like it : )

but did the kids get to open presents before going to Grammy & Grampa's.... the best part of CHristmas for me... kids being excited and opening presents, sadly, not in our Christmas mornings anymore.

Of course... and then again with their cousins at the inlaws and again at my moms. I would prefer to stay home and let them play with their toys while I relaxed all day. They were spoiled. Out of all of my kids are most in love with the pirate hats and hooks I picked up for less than $1 on clearance after Halloween, lol.
