My Wrist Saga Empty My Wrist Saga

Post by trax Wed Apr 14, 2010 1:01 pm

Good grief, the saga continues. I do not know where I got to...my pins were removed, xrays were taken (never got to the surgeon - pmo - big time - dealt with that).

I am trying to 'use' it. I try to type with all fingers, peel potatoes Laughing

I have tried to explain to the doctors in charge how I fell, not one of them has an ear for listening. I guess they are more concerned with lining their silk pockets.

I was on a hill when I hit a blanket of ice, I slid 20' or so - I was more concerned about my head, not my hand. I danced with ice.

These doctors now tell me, ....oh you are so fragile. I rather look at them as if they are stupid/dense - no matter between their ears. Of course, I am fragile. I am 4'11" and I weigh 93 pounds on a good day. lol!

Oy! If you ever do find a doctor who will listen, keep him/her forever. They are a treasure.

Glad the pins are out and you can begin using it again. Any idea if it will have full range of motion? And are you getting physical therapy? Or are you so far away from the hospital that it's not worth it?

Full range of motion - it will take time. Therapy - yes - i did very well with it. Because I lived rural, I was only able to take therapy twice. I am doing well, I tend to use it more than should be...i.e. typing with all fingers , peel potatoes - good exercise, good therapy.
thank you for asking

Trax, how did the bone density test go? I wonder if that's what they're referring to when they tell you that you're fragile. If the results from the bone density test were normal I'd have to agree...they aren't listening. They're just being overprotective - like a mom- saying to be careful or you're going to break a limb again.

that sucks! Sad sorry you had such a bad time. I have been known more than once to tell an anesthesiologist, nurse, Dr etc to get the hell out of my room, or that I will find someone else. I cant stand the supurior attitude that some docs get...

Results from tests will not be available to me for about a week. I think they will be flying via the pigeon. - hahaha - we are rural, maybe the doctors/hospitals in charge do not have high speed dial up - maybe they are on dial down - maybe they do not have internet service at all Laughing

I do not place much faith in some doctor that looks at me as a 55 year old woman - fragile. I was born fragile.

Oh yes, on the note of side - for Canadians - CTV Spectacle Elvis Costello - tomorrow is John Prine! Check your local listings. Oh yes, for folks in the city - new Bruce Springsteen tomorrow - check your retailers.

Doctor called today, scheduled appointment for early next week. Nothing urgent. My take - my slim lined body - well, could be car building material. It is/could be a Super Nova! Razz

You are a Super Nova Girl! We talk about our health care here in the US and we (I'm speaking DH and I) think the Canadian way is the way, but am beginning to doubt after hearing about your experience with your wrist.

I think you and and only you will when it's healed.. .if you can type, peel potatoes, pull a weed or two or three, scratch your itch, your body.wrist will tell you.

Hang in there!
