He sounds adorable. No wonder they're called man's best friend - they really interact with us.

People get freaked out by my dog - she listens all the time to what we say and picks out certain words and reacts. Like I could mention my son's teacher Kitty in a flat tone of voice mid-sentence and she would pick out the word kitty and go flying over to the door all ready to take on the kitty. LOL WIsh I could get her to pick up her toys.

Most of my dogs have been able to pick up a fairly good vocabulary, but I think the border collie I have now probably has the biggest of any dog I've had. Even my dad comments how all he has to say is that he's going to check the mailbox and Odin will run the 500 ft to the end of the driveway and sit beside the mailbox to wait for him to catch up. My favourite is when I'm packing everyone into my truck to come home from there. Odin is usually doing laps of the hay field next to their house. I'll tell him he can do one more lap so he'll take off running, do his lap of the field, and jump straight into the truck. They really do pick up more language than you think sometimes!

One of my dogs has gone deaf. I would say they both understand quite a bit, for all it's worth.

They listen about as well as the kids Rolling Eyes

Our dogs are outside dogs and I would have said that they didn't understand us at all. Then I realized that they would move out of my way and not Scott's or the kids. Turns out that I say, "Excuse me" and they move. When I told Scott and the kids, it worked for them too.

that's true, but they can also send when a person is sad, sick, or in harms way...
