Re: Olympics
There were journalists - who were not even in Vancouver - writing very negative commentaries about Vancouver, British Columbia, and Canada. They were writings of pure trash. I believe this to be what Valerie is making reference to. Would be interesting to hear her comment as she is on the east coast of Canada and I reside about 350 miles north of Vancouver.
In my opinion, what Vancouver showed was pure - pure 'look folks we can all get along' - and that they did. The afterglow of the hockey game proved that in the streets of Vancouver. Everyone was huggin' and dancin' in the streets - all I could think of was a song by Martha and the Vandellas - Dancin' In The Streets.

Re: Olympics
That is exactly what I was talking about.
All they printed was negative stuff about Canada and Canadians.

Re: Olympics
Wow! I hadn't heard any complaints like that. And watching here in the states, I didn't get that vibe at all. Sure Joannie Roachette got a lot of cheers from Canadians, but a lot of the rest of the world was cheering her on as well. She had Scott Hamilton in tears during her skate. And I thought that ALL the atheletes were well supported and cheered. I notice things like that. I crack people up at swim meets because I cheer and yell for every swimmer and even shout tips at the swimmers from the other team as they get ready to swim. I can't NOT cheer for a 7 year old, LOL. I would have noticed if no one was cheering for the non-Canadians.
Plus I thought that the luger's death was well handled. I expect his family wouldn't want his death to be what the whole world was focused on. I know I wouldn't have. Privacy is important to a lot of folks.
