Re: Olympics
Just like the Superbowl, I don't watch the Olympics either..sports just don't interest me one bit. Well, if I happen to be changing channels and the couples figure skating is on, I will watch, but other than that I don't.

Re: Olympics
Yeah, and I've been enjoying everything I've watched. I loved (loved!!!!) the Snowboard Cross. The men's figure skating was wonderful. I watched pairs skating last night and look forward to it again tonight. The Canadian couple who had the Spanish looking costumes (sorry, can't recall the names, but they're in first right now) blew the socks off all the other couples last night. I really enjoyed their routine and it seemed much more difficult than the others.
If anyone else watched last night's skating...the big controversy over the Aboriginal costumes seemed overblown to me. They're only skating costumes and they're meant to entertain and set a mood. I don't think the skaters need to immerse themselves in another culture before daring to put on a skating costume, but apparently I'm not in the majority with that opinion.

Re: Olympics
Not watching really. I am impressed with the Norwegian Curling teams Pants, and I did see the ice dancing last night....that was amusing. I also got a sight of the USA Bobsled teams manthongs. Other than that, not interested really

Yes, I am watching and was rather surprised USA beat Canada 5-3 in hockey. Not a happy day in Canada today I suspect.

Re: Olympics
couples and single skating only, and that's if nothing is on the other channels I care to watch. Glad the USA seems to be walking away with medals... but so much drama...

Re: Olympics
I watch the Olympics whenever I can. They're a great chance to see sports like mogals and speed skating that don't usually get much television coverage.
Re: Olympics
I've been watching on and off. I usually enjoy it, but I've had a cold and hate seeing all those energetic people while I feel like crap, LOL.
Re: Olympics
yup Chelle... or at least thats why I think shows are doing reruns. they don't want to lose viewers during the olympics. I rather have my Grey's Anatomy!chelle wrote:the what?? is that the reason last week my shows were reruns??
i had to search online today to figure out the point to Curling...some events are so boring and then since i don't care to watch, then I don't pay attention to whats on when and I miss stuff I'd like such as seeing Shaun White snowboarding.

Re: Olympics
We have been watching most events. We love the Olympics at my house. Ceilidh is actually obsessed with them! I had to tape the gold winning performances (when I saw them) and medal ceremonies for her. She is now adamant that she will make it to the Olympics (summer since those are less dangerous).

Maybe we watched different games.... Canada beat USA 5-3 in overtime (or 5-2)... diffently CA took gold on that one.

The first game USA won 5-3, it was a playoff. The game for the gold, Canada won 3-2.

Re: Olympics
It was a great game indeed!!
I was on the edge of my seat until the very end.
Both teams should be very proud of themselves!
Yes, I agree Canada should be very excited for setting the record of gold medals.
Hopefully those who are spewing off about how Canada was the wrong place to hold the Olympics will just go away quietly, but I doubt it.

Me either! I thought you guys were a wonderful host country and was really impressed with how smoothly things went. I know that there was the one death of a training athlete, but honestly it's a very dangerous sport and the track was built to typical specifications. Plus I felt that (with the exception of NBC airing the footage repeatedly) the accident was handled professionally. They raised the wall level of the turn immediately and without any BS from govn committees, etc. They just did what needed to be done as quickly as possible.
Re: Olympics
only problem I was aware of was lack of snow and too much rain during the trails... but CA came thru with the snow when it was needed!
