Gift for nephew question Empty Gift for nephew question

Post by KellyM Mon Aug 10, 2009 3:37 pm

I have been saving amazon $$ from surveys and ordered 2 of my nephews their main gift for x-mas, then we usually get them all a smaller gift and then we do favorite snacks/candy/ etc. gift bag. I haven't ordered the 3rd nephew anything yet, but I found something really cool, my nephew Alex loves to draw, paint, etc... and he still uses a nightlight..so I thought this would fit the bill, the only problem, we usually keep the main gifts for each of the kids under $25.00 and so don't the in-laws, I am hoping like heck if I keep an eye on it maybe it might go on sale or something! I don't really want to spend that much on one gift for him anyway and it wouldn't be fair to the others. It's just that this is a hard kid to buy for, he either has, or has tried just about every artsy type thing out there...

So I guess my question is- "Should I spend more on him anyway just because I know he doesn't have it and it's something he would like?" Or do I get something cheaper to be fair to the other boys? Or should I only buy it if it goes on sale? What do you think?

this is what I am thinking of for him

It looks kind of cool but I think I'd sit on it for a while. I don't like that there aren't any reviews posted yet. You have plenty of time to catch a good sale or find something else.

It's very cool. I think you have plenty of time to shop so I'd wait. But I also think that Christmas isn't about spending an exact monetary amount. A gift is just a show of love and affection so as long as you put love into each gift it shouldn't matter if you spend $2 or $200. If you spend extra on his Christmas gift, then just make sure it's not a pattern to favor him over the others and don't worry about it.

don't know the ages of the nephews, but they don't, I think, think about what something cost... well unless it's a X box or something... but like others are saying, with time, watch and see if the item goes on sale.

I agree about the reviews... I like to see them before I buy things. But.. if you really want to get him for it, unless you are sending it with the price tag, I don't see what the deal is. You don't have to tell anyone what you paid. You might find a great sale.

My niece is 9, and got one for her bday last week. She played with it for about 5 minutes, then it went in the closet. Not sure how old your nephew is, but for kids over about 8, it is boring. I would not spend that much on it.
