My Sister has cancer
She was diagnosed in Jan with cervical/pelvic cancer. She's had her first course of radiation and chemo, and appears the tumor is shrinking. In fact, she gets a month off from treatments. She is the only other sibling I have, having lost my older brother last summer.
So DH and I went to NC last week to spend time with her and her family. She'll be 69 in July, and looks more like 79, and moves like an 89 year old! After we left, she had a doctor appointment and has since told us that her hemoglobins are up, as are her fluids and she's gained 3# this past month... all the way up to 96
We were happy to have time with her, her kids and her grandkids... just nice family time.
Oh, and we also got to spend time with my daughter, her husband, and my 3 darling grandgirls... as well as my daughter's parents (who adopted her when I surrendered her 42 years ago).
It was just a wonderful time all around... Sis, Daughter, Family. But honestly, happy to be home.

Re: My Sister has cancer
I am sorry about your sister Dee, she will be in my thoughts. Glad you got some family time though.
Re: My Sister has cancer
How hard this must be so soon after your brother and sister-in-law passed. I'd be so scared and overwhelmed. I will pray for her recovery.
Re: My Sister has cancer
So sorry to hear about you sister. My mom has been fighting ovarian cancer since 2002. It is a tough tough road for all. It's great that it was a positive visit rather than somber, as it will help her fight, and be good for everyone's mental well being. Hang in there.

Re: My Sister has cancer
I am sorry to hear about your sisiter. Cancer is hard on everyone, and I so wish they could come up with a cure. I have issues with them finding a cure and won't get started on my thoughts. I hope she continues to improve.
I'm also glad you got to spend time with her, and your daughter. It is good that you have a relationship with your daughter, and can visit and see your grandkids.

Re: My Sister has cancer
Cancer's such an ugly disease and I'm sorry to hear your family has to deal with it. It sounds like you had a wonderful day with her and your daughter though and I'm glad you had a good time!
Re: My Sister has cancer
Thank you all for your kind thoughts/comments/prayers. As I said, it was a special visit with Sis, but also because I got to spend a night with my daugher and family. I should post a pic of my grandgirls... they are so danged cute.
Lucky, I'm glad to hear that your Mom is still around, and fighting that dam cancer... hopefully, she'll beat it, like I'm hoping my Sis will. Although I wonder.
Sis will be 69 in late July, and she's planning a birthday bash with all the neighbors who have become good friends to her as well as her family of sons and grandkids... but my niece (nephew's wife) has told me that she thinks "Mom" is hanging around for her birthday and then will give up. I hope she's wrong. My sister has always been a survivor... and I'm hoping this time is no different.!
Again thanks for all your kind words.
