Caly done good this week
The way her school works is that all the grades (preschool through 12th grade) are in the same building, but the elementary uses one section of the building, the middle uses a second section, and the high school uses a third. The little kids have almost no contact with the older ones, but the middle and high interact a little. So Caly came home Wednesday and told me that one of the boys who's "a million feet tall" was walking down the hall shoving kids and he shoved her. She's in 7th grade. She says he is too but he might have failed a year. Anyhow, he shoved her and would have knocked her down but a high school kid caught her. So she hit him in the stomache.
Then yesterday she came home from the Christmas dance and told us she now has a boyfriend. (Not the same kid she hit, LOL.) I've always told my kids that one day they'd meet someone that was so wonderful it robbed their ability to think of anything but how the sun glints off their hair. And I told them that they should start dating by going out with someone who was just a friend because they needed to get in a little practice with a regular person first or they wouldn't know how to act or what to say or do with the special one because their brain will be too busy thinking of how the sun glints off their hair. Anyhow, Caly told me that the reason she never asked out this particular boy (her new boyfriend) was that he was "a sun-glinter" but that since he asked her she said yes. I'm very happy for her. He's been her good friend for months and at the very least, I know enough about him to know he won't be rude or abusive. He's a nice kid. And apparently, the sun glints off his hair.

Oh man I do not want to even think about dating. I'm glad Caly found a good one, best of luck to them!

The sun glinters are always the best ones. Good luck to her.

Awww... I remember my first crush at that age. Lasted many years. Of course it faded over time, but I still remember it.

Re: Caly done good this week
shoot, I had a boyfriend in 7th grade. he was my steady. LOL and my first kiss. our dates were the football games. of course he played and I cheered, so we never saw each other.. but it was 7th grade.. LOL we did go to a dance. the sweetheart dance. and yes, the sun glinted off his hair.
and I know a couple that I went to school with, they started 'going steady' in kindergarten. They went to college together, and got married. They are still together after 28 years.

Re: Caly done good this week
LOL, Chelle. That might do it.
And while Caly is very happy and likes him a lot, she's got a very good head on her shoulders and is no hurry to get physical. All they've done is hold hands, and she's debating giving him a kiss on the cheek after he gets braces on Wednesday.
