Re: 60 minutes
I agree Jansport bags are awesome. I have had the same one for 14 years. It has gotten some use and then some. Hubby still uses it when he rides his Enduro to work.
Re: 60 minutes
Karen, another good backpack is LL Bean, and theirs are guaranteed. If it wears, zipper busts, strap breaks, material wears out, anything from normal wear and tear you just mail it back and they will mail a new one back to you. Personally my daughter has had her LL Bean backpack for 4 years now and it's still in excellent condition. We bought one for my son last year and he's a little bit rougher, so I don't know about how long his will last. The guarantee is offered with everything they sell. My sis returned her son's Columbia jacket after 2 years because the zipper broke and they replaced it with a new one of the same style/size. If you watch the LL Bean site often you can get them on sale and sometimes even with free shipping!

Re: 60 minutes
Jansport also has a lifetime warranty, but I have never had to use it. I still have each Jansport backpack I've bought. My daughter clued me into these in high school, she was going through several a year. She used the same one all through college, it was incredible.
I have a sneaky suspicion Jansport may make LLBean's backpack also, but I have not been able to confirmed that.
LLBean does have excellent return policy...but I have also used it for my husband's Columbia jacket zipper 2 years old. They did replace it.
Almost forgot to add. Jansport is available all over. Even places like Office Max stocks them before school with great deals. eBags is another great place to get sales on them, and they come in sooooo many sizes and great colors the kids like.

Re: 60 minutes
Perhaps we should contact Jansport and sell them some WOM. LOL We could skip the middle man and spilt the dough. I bzz the hell out of some backpacks.
Re: 60 minutes
I suspect Jansport also makes the Lands End backpacks. I have been using one for about 10 years....love that thing.

Re: 60 minutes
OK, y'all convinced me. I checked out Land's End and found one on clearance for $15. Found a free shipping code, and even remembered to order through MyPits. It's purple and even has lights on it that the kid can turn on or off or set to flashing just by squeezing the shoulder straps. I figure that's gotta be fun and if they don't like that part they can leave them off. But it may be handy for the pre-dawn drop off and crossing of the parking lot. Here's the link:

I agree. I found some on clearance last October at Target and I grabbed them for $7 apiece. They've been used all year at school, been on 2 planes, go to the zoo, museum or whatever, camping and everywhere. AND they are still going strong. Kids will use them again next year. I think I actually need to throw them into the washing machine to get them from smelling like smooshed banana from the zoo a couple of weeks ago.... I'm not worried about it, I know my washer won't eat it! lol

Re: 60 minutes
I'll be on the lookout for a good deal on the Jansport ones. Even w/ the one I just bought, I'll still need 3 more eventually.
Re: 60 minutes
Erin, I knew that shit wasnt good for you!!
Thanks I will try it!
I am now down to 4 loads of laundry. Plus the 3 left over from the weekend.

Re: 60 minutes
Look for Jansport backpacks at garage sales and thrift stores too. Since they hold up so well, you can often find them being resold.

Re: 60 minutes
I bought LL Bean Backpacks this year for all my kids. I got tired of backpacks dying midway through the year. Though I did buy backpacks at Disney last time we were there (about 3 years ago) and those lasted a LONG time!
