I agree too. I think Rosie will feel much better resting at home where she feels safe and secure. I hope she continues to gain strength.

Poor Rosie, I will be thinking of you and Rosie today. I can't imagine how I would feel if one of my pets left me.
Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
I don't know if anyone around here does acupuncture on pets. I'd have to find that out...kath wrote:Good choice. Stay with the meds.. good food .. hand fed if need be and good care ...all of which I know she is getting....
maybe once she is really on the mend some acupuncture?
Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
Good luck. It sounds like you are making the right choice. To me it is often hard to know what will be best for a sick animal, but I favor less treatment rather than more. I lost three cats last year and ran up big vets bills with 2 of them (the other one died while we were out of town), put them through a lot and lost them anyway.Right now my cat Puddin is losing weight and not looking the best. She has stopped cleaning herself, but seems happy enough and not in pain. She is a pretty old cat (we aren't sure but at least 14) and we are choosing to just leave her alone for right now.

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
She still seems to be steadily improving. She's still underweight and still tires out easily, but she is taking an interest in what's going on around her again. The kids and I stopped at the vet's office to pick up the remainder of the treatment for her. It should end in about 3 weeks. Hopefully we'll continue to see improvement!
Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
Thanks for the update Rebecca! I find myself wondering about her at odd times (that is to say times that I'm not logged in to the UB!).
Keep taking good care of her!

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
I found a couple of pics of her in my Photobucket account.
This is how she always used to hang out in our old house. You can sort of see how big her paws are because of the extra toe in this pic:
And this is a pic of her playing with Devon when he was just starting to pull up on things:

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
I'm partial to calicos and cats with extra toes...their big paws look so cute! Even though we can't have cats now we always had at least one cat in our menagerie when I was growing up. At one point we had 2 cats and each had a litter of 4 kittens. We were in heaven!

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
Thanks! Calicos and solid greys are my favourites too so the fact that her colours are diluted is perfect for me!
Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
She is gorgeous Rebecca. The extra toe made me lol.
Glad she is feeling better!
Chloe sends her wishes too - or maybe that is her just telling me she is hungry?

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
Thanks Cristi! I didn't even notice that she had an extra toe until after I had brought her home. I was watching this small for her age, sick little 6 week old kitten fearlessly exploring around the house and thought that her paws looked huge! Sure enough when I picked her up I realized why!

Awww, she is a beautiful cat. I like her name too!

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
Our cat is nearly 18yrs old now and beginning to experience some health problems. She's always been somewhat of a brawler and was always getting into fights with other neighborhood cats. I have a feeling her rough and tumble lifestyle has caught up with her and she may not have too much time left.

Re: Rosie (my sick cat) Update
It's an awful feeling, but a bit easier when you're expecting it. We lost our other cat between Christmas and New Years's, but she was older and we could see she was getting sick. It was sad, but not unexpected which made the decision a bit less of a shock.
