Skydiving pics and story
I hope this link works..
Alrighty then, so it was AWESOME! Really, it was so much fun that the adrenaline didn't wear off until about 10:30 last night!
The amazing part? It really wasn't scary at all. The worst part was when you had to sit in the open door of the plane with your legs dangling out and actually getting TO the door was harder than that.. lol.
Right after we went out my helmet and goggles wanted to come off so the first five seconds for me was spent focusing on getting them back on and then it was just fun. It was hard to breathe during the freefall and by the time it ended I was READY for the chute to open.
Right after the chute opened there was a little jump in the chute and I saw something orange floating to the ground. I asked Jeff my instructor what the little extra jump was because it was fun but he thought I was talking about the orange thing and said it was a "directional thingy" that they throw out now and then. Awww.. okay.
The best and strangest part is that after the chute is open they unhook the bottom part of your harness and it feels like you are on your own.. All of the sudden the weight is gone and at first that was really unsettling but then you get used to it and its great!
So we all land and everyone is okay and Im talking to my mom and her and Paul her instructor are laughing and in the bits and peices I find that the orange thing was my moms chute!
Her chute wouldn't open fully!!! They had to cut it and use the reserve chute! OMG... I am SOOO glad I jumped with her and was not on the ground or I would have not went up at all.
She however found it quite amusing and wasn't at all scared. When they were coming down and Paul pulled to open the chute, she just heard "well that didn't work, are you ready to dive again?".... her attitude was "what are you gonna do?"... lol
Anyway, that was our adventure and it was wonderful.. Im glad I did it. My dh is SO wanting to go again and again and again.. him and my sister both did high altitude jumps so they had 60 second freefalls and we had 40 sec.
If you get a chance.. DO IT!
Here is the slideshow and i hope the link works, if it doesn't I will set my album to public so everyone can see.

WooHoo! Looks like each of you had your very own hunk to cradle you in their arms during your jump. It looks like it was a blast. I still think I'd be scared.
I can't believe your mom laughed when she found out that her first chute didn't open! You're going to have to keep an eye on her, she sounds reckless! Seriously, had she taken valium or something before jumping? Maybe it hit her later or something.

Re: Skydiving pics and story
I love the pics! It looks like a blast! Now that you mention it, it makes sense that breathing during the freefall would be hard. I know when you really get going on a motorbike it can get hard to breathe. I'm sure a freefall would be faster than that!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
BTW, is that here in Colorado? Sure looks like Loveland to me!

Re: Skydiving pics and story
I asked her later if she was a little scared and she just shrugged and said there was nothing she could do about it so she may as well enjoy it. To top it off they were playing around having a good time all the way down that he forgot to pay attention that they were landing until the very last minute.. lol.. so they came in pretty hard and got buried under the chute.. they were still laughing when I got over to them.
Rebecca, it's around 140 miles an hour.. it was crazy.. especially during the freefall when that thought crossed my mind.. just a huge rush of wind like you can't even imagine!
Tegansmom: We were here in Idaho (Caldwell)... it's not as pretty as Colorado

Re: Skydiving pics and story
I'm so glad you had a great time. May I ask where the whole idea to skydive came from? I think it's awesome but I just don't think they would get me to jump without knocking me out and throwing me, lol. Great slideshow.
Re: Skydiving pics and story
It came about because a lady (the one with long white hair in the group photo) was turning 75 and it was her lifelong dream. It grew from there.. Lot's of family and friends joined in and in my case family of friends.. lol.. btw.. the birthday lady had a GREAT time and loved it.. she went in the first group and had a blast. I went in the second group since it was my bday as well but I am no where near 75 yet and wanted to get it over with.
Re: Skydiving pics and story

Re: Skydiving pics and story
That's great! Although I think it would be way harder to chicken out in such a big group, lol.
