Re: Groundhog Day
I can't remember which was which- and my kids couldn't tell me either. So I want him to do whatever it takes to make it spring as fast as possible.
Although I am pretty certain spring starts the same day regardless We were in the negatives before wind chill factors early in the week. Yesterday was 59 degrees. I have been sick with something or another since Nov. and this kinda crap doesn't help! I am SO ready for spring!

Re: Groundhog Day
We're ALL ready for Spring lol. If he doesn't see his shadow and get scared and runs back inside, then it's an early Spring meaning we get nicer weather sooner supposedly

Re: Groundhog Day
I'm not sure what seeing his shadow means either, but he definitely won't see it here tomorrow
So far this week, here in KY, we had sun, 71, tornado (15 miles from me) and wind and snow (1/2") been a strange stran ge week

Re: Groundhog Day
Bright and sunny and cold here, so the groundhog saw his shadow and jumped back into his hole.
Meaning six more weeks of winter cold and nasty. Bleah.
There are only two things I like about winter: no grass mowing (I HATE grass!) and hockey.
Go Habs!

Re: Groundhog Day
i don't think that the groundhog rule applies here...
San Diego does whatever it wants!
I should know what happened... being a substitute teacher and all, but I just had to look it up! Phil didn't see his shadow, so its a early spring... according to GMA website.

Re: Groundhog Day
you are so right about San Diego Jessica... Except for Feb when it seemed to rain every day, the other 11 months were wonderful !

Re: Groundhog Day
We haven't had a "winter" to speak of. A few days here and there in the 40's, one or two in the 30's and thats it. The rest of the time has been in the 70's +

Re: Groundhog Day
We got about 11 inches, of course that is no big deal here, we are use to it. It was a bit scary this morning, everything was sheer ice but it's warmed up nicely and it's melting fast, yay!
Re: Groundhog Day
We had about the same Tara, about 11.5 inches.Unfortunately it's not warming up all that much here, but plows have come through my block.
This is the biggest amount of snow we have had here for a couple of years

Re: Groundhog Day
We are in the upper 40's and there is only a few inches of thick wet slush left. This is the one and only year I would prefer snow. My husband, despite me telling him now or never last spring so I could plant grass seed... decided to surprise me last year by ripping off the back deck, leaving a 15 ft radius of mud around my back door- in the dog yard- I have three large dogs! So I have been cleaning up mud non stop since then, freezing and snow cover has been my only relief. I did not kill and bury him in the backyard, although I was and am tempted every time I let the dogs out. Just itching to get it planted so my life will be easier again, lol.
The local weatherman for 4 days straight told us to be prepared for 24 inches, get your bottled water type warnings. Then on Thursday night he changed his tune and on air said, LIKE WE'VE BEEN SAYING all along expect 4-8 inches possibly less. It didn't start until late Friday afternoon and it was done by the time I woke up Sat and the roads were clear. but it sure was a lot of work to get out of the driveway.
I'm just outside of Syracuse (beating even Alaskan cities for US city with the highest annual snowfall), so we've had little snow the last two winters than we are accustomed too. But, we also have a lot of wide open space and plenty of room to put it that you guys just don't have in the city! Nothing prettier than fresh snow, but once the plows go through everything is gray and gross. I don't mind seeing it but I hate being in it!

Re: Groundhog Day
lol Tara,don't kill him
our back yard is half concrete, half soil with a few plants.Whenever we get tons of snow Rocco runs through it and he makes a path for himself. After that he goes through the path to do his business so he doesn't get soaked, just a couple of wet patches. No real mud problem here, thank God
