NASTY OLD MAN, #@$@%%@$a^%%!!!

My father has COPD(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).He had somewhat of a crisis today,he has a cold which doesn't help.I have been giving him Theraflu packets in addition to his meds. Instead of telling me that he had trouble breathing he sneaks down to my brother to tell him to get him some cold medicine(which he has already been taking) Then he starts getting sarcastic and just plain mean to me(a little more than usual) I finally notice he's having some trouble breathing.I told him that he is already taking a good cold med.I tell him stop the Advair inhaler and use your nebulizer 4x/day. This is after he insinuated that I was stupid.After using the nebulizer again I ask if he's feeling better.YES! he shouts.I felt like saying you're welcome to be sarcastic back at him,but I bit my tongue

have no idea how old your Dad is, but some folks when they get old, they get more oriner and don't think about what they say... not making excuses, but have been there.

sorry for you.... you're a good daughter, and you can just deal with it, or write him off, which I'm sure isn't the way you want to go.

It's okay Athena..vent away. My parents are in their late 70s... and boy, while my dad became much much easier to "deal" with, my mother (I will put a disclaimer here to say that I love her) is a total psycho case. She's gotten paranoid with age.

It does make a fun reunion though.

Paranoia is a sign of dementia, and alzheimers. Mike's grandmother was a PITA, due to dementia, but if you back down he will walk all over you....don't back down
