One of those weeks...
Somehow, a few dozen small to medium sized annoyances have popped up this week. They're nothing major, but it's getting old fast. Quinn has had the stomach flu, my bank made an error and I got a cascade of fines (although I think I'll get it all back next week since I can show that they were at fault), and nothing is going as simply as it should. Murphy's Law is after me.
But I'm trying to remember how grateful I am for my family, my home, and that none of this compares in any way to what so many have suffered this week.
So... somebody tell me a joke or something. I need to smile.

Re: One of those weeks...
Sorry, Karen. Hope things work out.
OK, to lighten the mood - Not a joke at all, but the truth...did I mention what my dog did on Christmas Eve? I had prepped a pound of huge scallops wrapped with bacon to take to MIL's house and DH was loading things into the car. He set the pan of scallops too close to the edge of the counter and took other things out to the car. The dog snagged the rim of the pan with her paw and pulled down the scallops. Ate every single one (19 of them) including the toothpicks that I had used to hold the bacon on the scallops. She never even got sick.

Re: One of those weeks...
wow, seems like the toothpicks might have done her in....
Mine stole a whole raw chicken off the kitchen counter the other day. I came in from the store, set it down, bayley brought them in the bathe them, and he got it.....He will also take dishes out of the sink and put them all over the floor. That is why he lives outside.

Re: One of those weeks...
LOL! That's a good one, Dee. Things seem to be picking up tonight. The kids got home from their swim meet and the boys got the third place trophy. The team hasn't won a trophy in many years so it was a big deal. The girls placed fourth, but no trophy for that. But Zaven and Caly were very excited and it has cheered me up. I also stopped by Walgreens to pick up some medicine for Quinn and they had it set up to where you could donate to the red cross by adding the donation to your bill. I'd been putting off donating until I could do it anonymously because I hate the junk mail. So I gave $10 and feel better about that. I'm planning to cash in all our loose change at the coinstar and donate that way, too. I bet we have $50 or more.
Kelly, I'd have been Soooo upset with my dog. Thank goodness the toothpicks didn't do any damage. I'm like Erin and keep my pets outside. They do not behave well inside.

No, I was upset with DH, though. He knows better. The dog was just being a dog. Her nose is on 24/7.

Geez! I said Kelly and I meant Lori! Sorry to both of you. I was very tired when I typed that.
And yeah, you're right. You can't blame the pup. But you can blame the husband!

Re: One of those weeks...
that is funny what you wrote tbs.
Not a good week here - Friday morning went for my daily walk, got side tracked and danced with the ice. Fell and broke/shattered my wrist. Surgery was yesterday, put a steel plate and screws in. Geez, it hurts - but back home now and I am thankful for that and also for the good medical system we have.

Oh, trax, sorry to hear that! It's the reason I hate walking the dog in the winter on the ice. She pulls and I'm so afraid of falling. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Trax! I am so sorry to hear that you were hurt. I'd noticed that you'd been gone for a few days and figured you were just busy. Hopefully it will heal well and quickly. I will keep you in my prayers.

Re: One of those weeks...
So sorry you were injured like that Trax. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I got hurt recently too. My dh broke some florescent bulbs. It made a huge mess when they exploded. During the clean up, 2 very heavy boards got hit and fell on my head. I have never been hit like that in my life! I was in considerable pain for about a week, but it is getting much better now.

Re: One of those weeks...
Feel better fast trax!!! My turn to bitch lol.My brother and sister have been arguing for several months, they both tried to sway me their way for weeks,I kept telling both of them to leave me out of it I'm not getting involved.A couple of weeks before christmas i had to go bring my dad to my sister's house. She turned all psychobitch, yelling and screaming about my bro and because i didn't take her side, she told me I should limit going to her house to holidays only.So I get pissed off and tell her calmly,no I think even that is too much cause I'ved had enough too.She goes into the kitchen and cries incessantly with her back towards me while I get my things together to leave.I had the worst christmas and new year's eve of my life.I called my older niece and arranged to give the kids their christmas gifts outside of the house in the cold.

Aggie, I'm so sorry. Family drama was one of the things going on in my life that made me start this thread. Hopefully, things will get better in time.
Dee, I'm happy for you too! It's nice to hear things are working out for a friend.

Oh, I like this nickname for you, agaphmou. Can we call you that, or is there some other nickname we can call you by?

Re: One of those weeks...
I'm going to moan a little too. I am sick.... I have been sick for almost 2 weeks now. Last Wed I finally called the Dr. I had swimmers ear in both ears. Got meds went home and the next day got the flu or maybe just the worst cold I have ever had. Yesterday I went back to the dr because I was no better. My throat hurts, my ears hurt, it's so bad I can't really move my neck. The swimmers ears has turned into nasty ear infections in both ears Got stronger meds, crossing my fingers they work.
I've never had an ear infection before, I am feeling so bad for my kids I had NO idea how incredibly painful it is
