Sort of good news
As many of you know I had been looking for work for over a year before getting a job at Walmart. I am currently working in the photo lab, which I do love since photography is a passion of mine. BUT, it is only part time, and as much as I love it, I am still looking for full time work.
I have been going through an emloyment agency and the girl I have been keeping in touch with has been wonderful. I talked to her this morning after she had left me a message yesterday to call her. She doesn't know all the details yet, but she has a prospect of a job for me. It is in my field of respiratory therapy, and it is in a hospital setting. I did not want to go back into the hospital type work, but I have to do what I can get. It is a long term/skilled unit (nursing home type). She quoted them as pay for me at $17 an hour! That is just too good of a pay to pass up should it all pan out.
I am having to track down all my shot records, and am going to have to get my CPR certification back. I let it run out when I wasn't working.
The down side is, I will have to drive an hour one way, it is a 50 mile drive. But I think I can live with that. I have to call her back in the morning to see if she has any more details. The woman hadn't gotten back to her when I talked to her this morning. I don't know if it is a temp to hire, an out right permnant hire, or just a temp position. It could be just part time, which even if it was it would be alot more than I am making working part time now.

Re: Sort of good news
I hate the long commute, especially since you might be working nights and be extra tired. But I love to listen to audiobooks when I'm driving. They seem to perk me up more than music. Our library lets us download them for free.

I love long commutes. I enjoy channel surfing on the radio or l istening to NPR.

Good luck! I used to love having a long drive home at the end of my shifts. The time alone really helps you de-stress
Re: Sort of good news
Come work around here, everyone is hiring. Jack in the Box hired Kristin, and started her out at $15 an hour they are so desperate!

Re: Sort of good news
I am going back to work too!
Nights starting next week, will be working 5/10's, then 6/ 12's, then 7/12's I hope. I go to take my SETSA on Monday, and CCO on tuesday, then wait for badges so I can go into the plant. It's a turn around, so will only be for a month or so, but I was asked, and couldn't turn it down.

Re: Sort of good news
yeah, boring work, sitting for however many hours in a hot crane, in Nomex and they are hot and uncomfortable. last job I made 2 lifts in 3 weeks, the rest of the time we played poker, or watched movies........
I did find out that I have grown, my last Nomex were a small-short, my new ones are a medium-short...........
.
I am now waiting on my "Study materials", LOL, my Dad is bringing me his book, so I can refresh. it's alot of technical crap

Re: Sort of good news
Thank you all and no news today when I talked to her. She said she had her boss call this other womans boss to try and move it along, but they hadn't heard anything.
Congrats Erin.
