I just bought my Mother's Day gift
I hope DH isn't mad, but I went ahead and ordered a cordless electric mower from Amazon. I am calling it my Mother's Day gift. I had $102 in my Amazon account so it wasn't too bad. Anyhow, I got an Earthwise 60120. I hate, hate, hate all of the gas-powered lawn equipment and we need a mower really bad. Rather than buy one last year we procrastinated and said we'd get one this year.

I'm hoping the guys will want to play with my new toy.

Re: I just bought my Mother's Day gift
Sweet! I want one! I wouldn't even want to share, lol. I got an electric weed eater for Christmas, I was so happy. Everyone else thinks I am nuts but I hate waiting on Rob to do it... because he doesn't and the gas one I can't do because he has "fixed" it and it dies every three seconds and it takes the incredible hulk to pull start it again and the string doesn't work like it should so you have to stop and take it apart every 15 feet or so.
When I was a teenager, I thought I would be nice and help my dad out, he had like 7 weedeaters, so I took one filled it with gas and it didn;t work, so I got another, and then another. I killed 5 before he stopped me and asked what the hell I was doing. I had no idea you had to mix the gas. Oops. He also had a huge John Deere collection that I was banned from even looking at that day. Luckily my hubby is lazy so I can do whatever I want to the CubCadet. LOL

Tara, that's why I'm calling it mine. I could never start our old one. Last year, even DH couldn't get it going. He took it in for repair and it worked about 5 minutes. Took it back and it was officially declared dead. It was a Craftsman, and we have had it forever, and he wanted to get another Craftsman. For my sake, he was looking at the models with a key start. The more I thought about it, I said nope. I'm done messing with gas and noise and the awful smell and not being able to mow unless he's home to start the stupid thing.

Re: I just bought my Mother's Day gift
I hope it's a good one. We had an electric one for about 5 years. A sears model. I liked it for about 50 minutes. That's about all the battery would last.... which was never enough time to do the whole yard. So would have to mow over a couple days, as it took a while to recharge. Also, it didn't do that good of a cutting job, it was very difficult to turn, and it was so very heavy. We sold it at a garage sale a couple of years back, got a gas powered, self-propelled and even if it's not considered green, I'm very happy with it and the job it does.
Who knows, maybe in 8 years time, the electric mowers have improved. Hope so for your sake.
Oh an Happy Mother's Day to your self!

I like it, and if i had a small enough yard I would get one. We have over an acre, so Huge riding mower, gas powered push mower, big weedeater.

Re: I just bought my Mother's Day gift
I'm allergic to fresh cut grass, so when Scott mows I have to hide inside with the A/C on to filter the air. But I like the idea of an electric mower.
Re: I just bought my Mother's Day gift
I'm with you Karen, when the neighbors swing the windows open in the spring, my house gets locked up and the A/C on to filter the pollen.

Re: I just bought my Mother's Day gift
Dh makes us turn off the A/C when mowing, the blowing grass can get into the something or other and block it up. We learned this after we had to replace our outside unit, it got clogged all up and would not run right.
I Like cutting grass, and dh doesn't do it the way I like it, so I do it myself. Besides, it's good exercise, and my Riding Mower has a beer holder.
