Hee. Yeah, he called to call me a weirdo. LOL Exact quote is "You weirdo."
The wait staff used to sing that at Chi-Chi's (Mexican - anyone remember those?) for birthdays.

I do and loved the deep fried ice cream, and the margarita's weren't too bad either.

Tara, it was a ball of vanilla ice cream that was rolled and coated in a cinnamon/sugar type mixture and then fried (I guess!) till the coating was browned & crunchy. When you ate it, the ice cream was soft and luscious inside. SO GOOD!

It sounds soo good.
Is the ice cream cold inside?
I missed the state fair last year, they had fried ice cream and fried snickers.

It's actually frozen REALLY hard, and rolled in a flour tortilla, a thin one, fried and then rolled in cinnamon and sugar, the Tortilla hold it together( they refreeze after frying), and it is cooked for like 10 seconds. My friends mom makes them sometimes....reminds me, today she is making tamales.....I may be out for a while...

I don't remember a tortilla, but it never made sense how they held together. It was always a marvel to me. Maybe that's why it was so special.

I had a recipe for deep fried ice cream, but don't know what I did with it, and the key was to get the ice cream packed hard. The coating in the recipe, was cinnamon, sugar and ground oats. I never made it though.
Chi Chi's was excellent....loved that place.
