This is a recipe that has been handed down to me. It is incredibly easy and everyone seems to love it!!!
I have substituted the blueberries with strawberries and I have also tried it with half blueberries and half strawberries. Let me know if you try any other variations.

In a large saucepan combine:
3 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
1/2 cup sugar
1 & 1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon lemon peel
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.

While that is simmering, in a large bowl combine:
1 cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until mixture resembles course crumbs.
Add 1/2 cup milk, stir until well blended.

Drop dough by spoonfuls onto the berry mixture (makes six dumplings)
Cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
DO NOT lift the lid while simmering.

Serve with warm or cool. I usually add whipped cream or a smal scoop of ice cream.

ENJOY!!!
