Re: Pet peeves...
oh and kimmy, I walk and talk on mine too. But its either me talking on my cell phone or me bitching at my kids. Either way, someone is gona hear me planning PTA events, supper, getting grocery lists (because BR or my mom always call for me to pick up something) , telling my great aunts how to run their TV's (cause they always break them while I am in town), .... OR telling my kids differnt ways I can kill them, hide the bodies and get away with it.
I DONT check out on the phone.
I DONT check out on the phone.

Sorry chelle, but the dictionary says both forms are correct.

Re: Pet peeves...
Well, I specifically remember a CAT test that had it on there. and the teacher explaining it as being a word that is used with the same spelling but depending on the context of the sentence you say it differntly. same as live, read, and a few others.
Re: Pet peeves...
My paper writes "he pled guilty" which my spell check is underlining but it is in the dictionary.
I would say I pleaded with him to let me go.
I dunno, English is a very strange language. I can't say that other than people saying my name tar-ah instead of tara (sara with a T) is the only thing that bugs me. Other than that my poor grammar leaves me no room to be bothered.
Although nucular/nuclear is entertaining. The sad thing is after hearing the president mispronounce it for 8 years, people think that it is nucular and he had an Ivy league education.

I wish it was that easy for me.
Are white socks and black shoes okay? LMAO My hubby wears socks pulled all the way up with sandles and shorts, so does my FIL. I make him remove his socks in public.
Ugh,... I guess that's my other pet peeve. LOL Match the socks according to the shoes!
Re: Pet peeves...
Yeah, shoes must match socks....and socks are a NO NO with sandals, although DH never listens

Re: Pet peeves...
Another one of mine is people who hit and kill animals, then leave them on the road.
I almost hit a dead deer that was in the middle of the road this morning while on my way to work.
It was 6:15 AM so it was still dark. It scared me half to death.
I drive a small car so who know what damage it would have caused.

Re: Pet peeves...
My main pet peeve that just happened last night is:
When I take one of my kids to the doctor (either clinic or ER depending), and I get treated like an over-reactive parent! I get a lecture and this time a book about when to go to the doctor (oh and the book said a fever OVER 103 go to the doctor, Zach's was 104) when it turns out that I was right and there is something wrong (ear infection this time).

One of mine is when dh calls me ans says "hey, you gotta call X, Y,and Z", then when I promptly make the calls he gets mad because he called me back on my cell and I did not answer, because i was on the other phone with X, Y, or Z!

I like doctors who respect that a mother knows her child. I am so sorry they did not respect you.
My best friend's baby actually died because no one would listen to her. She knew her infant was sick, but she was told he had no fever and go home. She kept trying to get him help for several days, but was turned away over and over. By the time the e.r. agreed to admit him, it turned out to be too late to save him. He had encephalitis. She went through days of hell while they tried to save him. They were about to try to save him by amputating his limbs, but he did not make it. My poor friend, this was her second baby in a row to die too. The one prior died of sids
I hope your child is fine now, and got the meds they needed

Re: Pet peeves...
That's just terrible! I also hate it when doctors act as if you don't know your own body or your own child. I have a small birth defect in my kidney but doctors don't believe me unless I bring in documents to prove it.
Re: Pet peeves...
This one got me this Morning. Local news show is interviewing some guy who does school programs, Some Newtons theory stuff. Anyway, this guy, who is supposed to be this super smart science geek says " and we have been to 493 schools in 43 states INCLUDING CANADA". Now, I am not the most intelligent person, and am a bit scatterbrained, but last i checked Canada was like this whole other country...
