My week is looking up
I've had a trying week, but things are really looking up today!
- I logged in to MyPoints and see that my missing points have posted!
- We have Satellite Internet service again. No more dial-up!
- I actually received a product test today!
I am so thankful for all of those things.

Re: My week is looking up
for the high speed!!!!! That means your back right? I know you've been here but it hasn't been the same.
Re: My week is looking up
Yeah, I'm back ladies! (and token gentlemen!)
A bonus is that our Nortons subscription is just about up and the installer highly recommended ditching it and using Avast! That will save us a hunk of change.

Re: My week is looking up
is avast free? never heard of it- let me know what you think it's almost that time again. I have used AVGfree for years on the desktop with no problems but I am more concerned about my laptop, lol.
Re: My week is looking up
My norton's runs out in 2 weeks. What's the scoop on Avast? I really don't like Nortons.
Re: My week is looking up
Here's the link for Avast: http://www.avast.com/ Where it says Avast Home Edition, click download.
He said he only uses the free version, but that the paid version would let you schedule updates etc. My husband told him that he's been running AVG on his office computer and the guy siad he had used that for a while too, but after someone recommended Avast to him and he tried it he found that the Avast finds more problems and is actually able to fix them.
He downloaded it to the desktop for me and said not to try to install it until after we uninstall Norton's. He said some people have a hard time getting Norton's completely uninstalled, and said if we have any problems to do a GOOGLE search, because there's info out there on how to get the stubborn stuff out. His main beef with Norton's was that it's ridiculously expensive and slows your computer WAY DOWN.

Re: My week is looking up
and it blocks harmless problems and refuses to let you change settings. Norton is not idiot friendly. when it come to technology- I need idiot friendly.
Re: My week is looking up
I use avast, or AVG they are both free, and the best IMO. I refuse to use Norton, being that it is a virus in and of itself, either of these will hit on it.
Just google, avg, or avast....

Re: My week is looking up
I use AVG. the free one.
I have bought both norton and .... who the hell ever the other one is, in the past, and had to get them off the computer. somtiems having to clean it out completely and start from scratch... , cause it screws up so much stuff.
But I do recommend AVG for sure.

Re: My week is looking up
oh and in the most loving way possible, I have to say "BITE ME" on not being on dial up anymore! LOL
Re: My week is looking up
I've used Avast for quite a long while. The free version. And I don't ever have to update... I get new definitions downloaded automatically just about every day.

Re: My week is looking up
God help us if Chelle ever gets highspeed, lol.
Time Warner raised the rates, roadrunner is now 50 a month. Grrr There really are no other options in my area- they have the monopoly and I moved to get roadrunner I will not go back to dial up.
