My grocery brag..... Empty My grocery brag.....

Post by tegansmom Wed Aug 13, 2008 8:44 pm

I just have to tell someone! I went to Albertson's this afternoon because I saw in the paper that they are having a great deal on Betty Crocker/GM cereal and a whole bunch of other things. If you bought 8 items that cost $2, you get $8 off, if you bought 8 items that cost $2.50 apiece, you get another $8 off. This makes the items $1 or $1.50. PLUS if you buy any 8, you get 50 Box Tops. I bought 8 items of each which came to $12.36. I got out to my car and realized that I didn't get my Box Tops coupon! I went back into the store to talk to Customer Service, who had to find the manager to see what to do. He said the only way it will print out is if I return all my items and re-purchase..... I was bummed, since I left everything in the car. I told him that I didn't want to get everything out, void the purchase then re-ring it. He said that I could grab 8 items and have the cashier void the transaction, and I would get my boxtops. He then asked me if that was ok for all the trouble. I was confused at this since I didn't know if he was saying that I get another 8 items for free or just the Box Top coupon, so I didn't say anything. He started walking away and said, "Awwww.... just make it 15 items."

The cashier turned around and told me I should pick out my 15 items since she didn't know what I wanted. I grabbed the cart and quickly picked 15 items, met the cashier at the register and she rang in everything and then voided it after the Box Top coupon printed.... she bagged everything and sent me on my way......

OMG!

I got:

8 Fruit snacks
7 Boxes Trix/Cheerios
4 Toaster Strudels
4 Brownie Mixes
8 Boxes of different cereal
---------
$12.36

I think I'm going back tonight..... Very Happy

OMG!! way to go!! thats great!

I had my list all ready and everything was going to be comp'd or coupon'd. THEN DAH started adding all this crap that there is NO PM or coupon for. that he just HAS to have.

GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR

My goal is to have a "REAL" list, things I really want/ need taht is ALL PM'd and coupon'd. And I wish we had an albertsons, krogers, anything..

That is exactly what DH does when I let him know that I'm going to the store..... I just stopped telling him. lol!

Yeah, having a Kroger, Albertsons, and Safeway makes finding the deals much easier!

Didn't go back tonight... may have to make the kids suffer by going to the store tomorrow with them!

Then you outta buy 5 All You mags at Walmart!! They have free hot dog coupons along with free wheat thins, salad dressing (miracle whip counts), cheese, and crystal lite. (free with purchase of 3 other kraft items, 20 cent kool aid packets count, it's a kraft item!) Ain't telling ya how many mags I bought - too embarrassing, but I have enough hot dogs and cheese in my freezer now to last all year! LOL

(anyone need wheat thins?? heehee)

I can't find it! I went to two Walmarts searching for it yesterday. I broke down and subscribed since I can't seem to find them in the store.

Mine are always at the magazine racks at the registers. Did you ask a manager to find one?? I believe that Walmart is the
exclusive seller on this one. Unless someone came in and bought them all out scratch

First of all, that's an incredible deal you got on the groceries! What a nice manager, you'll have to send him a Christmas card!

I have never seen the All You mag either! I'll make a point to look cuz my husband looooves wheat thins. He needs something crunchy on his plate when he eats lunch and it's usually the wheat thins!

I just figured this out...I had been using the wheat thins coupons on the regular size box. However the coupon does not specify the size...so I used it on the family size and no issues! These are still cheaper than the max value listed at Walmart.

Thanks for the heads up on the koolaid!!

I only bought 3 mags this time. BUT I am going to go back in on Monday and get a few more.

Miricle whip, we use that.

Koolaid. Sometimes,

weinies and cheese.. LOVE that!

Big box of wheat thins?? WHOO-HOO!!

Wonder if they will freak out if I come up there with 5 hotdogs, 5 cheeses, 5 wheat thins and 5 mayo's and 60 koolaids..

I just wonder if that would work??

( I blew my grocery budget today... I got ALOT of stuff, but couldnt think enough to do the kraft coupons. I just couldnt wrap my mind around it. )

Nope, in my experience asking for help at walmart just further pisses me off. I certainly do not shop there for there shining customer service. It is a Walmart exclusive but you can get it by subscription as well.

Tara, if you want multiple copies, get subs in your name, DH's, the kids, etc. all to your address. If they're in the same name, they'll just extend the subscription.

Think I should get a subscrition through MyPits (Magazines.com) and collect the 250 points for it? The price is $19.97 for 12 issues.

Do you usually pay the cover price at checkout?

I pay 1.97 an issue at checkout. and its cover price. I have a copy around here somewhere. go and get a 'first 2 issues free' and see what they send you. you will get 2 issues, then you can cancle if they want full price.. They will then offer it cheaper. Smile
