OK, so thanks for everyone's advice!
My honey was really very intent on making sure that I had a 17 inch monitor and an Intel processor, so this is the laptop I got for my birthday!

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Toshiba-Satellite-P305-S8842-17-1-Widescreen-Laptop-P305S8842/sem/rpsm/oid/215101/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

OK, so getting used to typing on a laptop isn't easy, and what a pain getting my wireless set up, but at least I'm connected!

Thanks again for everyones reccomendations, I hope I like the one I picked!

It's a nicer computer than my home, has 4Gig harddrive/400GB memory ..... or something like that.

Now I just need to figure out how to transfer my music ( thru folder sharing?) onto it from this PC.

Smile sunny

I am way more comfy on this one, but I'm headed up to Canada on Wednesday and it'll be good to have the laptop to keep me company!

very nice!! congrats!! and amazingly you will get used to typing on it. It didnt take too awful long. about a year. and now I dont have many problems. I still miss keys, reach for my 10 key, or hit the wrong ones, but overall its second nature.

My son is on mine right now!

Chelle, they keyboard is pretty big, cuz the damn laptop is huge, but I hit the caps lock all the time and it pisses me off. lol

The ONE thing I wanted ( it was my honey's insistance that it was a 17 inch screen and had an intel processor) was the number keypad, and it has one. I just can't type the numbers from that line above the letters. It takes me forever. lol

Cool! If I'm going to be doing a lot of typing on my laptop I usually just connect a regular sized keyboard -- I don't have the patience to deal with the cap lock button constantly being in the way!
Have a good time up here and be ready for the humidity!

Is it just my imagination, or are laptops just small, portable desktops? Laughing

Very pretty! For the music the easiest way is to get a thumbdrive and transfer it to the thumbdrive and then to your laptop. I do pics and everything that way... Of course if you have a TON of music you might need to do it in batches Wink Have fun!

I got all my music transferred wirelessly Smile
No mess, no fuss!

If Apple would just make it easy to transfer music via IPOD, I'd have been set, but as it is, this worked well too!

Thanks Rebecca Smile I live in humidity year round, so it's nothing but bad hair for me! I came down with a nasty sinus infection today, taking immunity boosters, so I'm looking forward to being in Toronto for the next week!

And now I can check in here with the laptop and all Wink
