Re: Won't be on the board
A few years ago I was in a restaurant (with Mrs. JoeC). We didn't have a reservation so we just sat in the bar area (which I prefer anyway) and some drunk women were seated next to us. I ordered a mojito. Here's what happened:
Drunk girl next to JoeC: You know, mojito's are OUT!
JoeC: The only thing OUT is letting other people tell you what's IN!
Drunk girl next to JoeC: What the f-ck does THAT mean?
JoeC: You'll figure it out in the morning.
Awkward silence
Mrs. JoeC snicker
More awkward silence
Drunk girl to waiter: I'll have a Mint Julep
JoeC: A Mint Julep is basically a mojito but with a different type of alcohol!!!!!!
Mrs. JoeC bursts out laughing.

Re: Won't be on the board
LMAO!!! What a moron!
BTW, since when is a Mint Julep an "in" drink? Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever even tried one.

Re: Won't be on the board
She let me try hers. It was revolting. Mrs. JoeC is pretty easy going, I suppose!
Re: Won't be on the board
I just looked it up -- mint juleps don't even sound good! Of course I am Canadian and mostly drink beer so what do I know? Wait -- that's not true either -- I was drinking vodka collins the last time I was out.
Re: Won't be on the board
ROFLMAO!! I've never had either one! jack and ... well jack. I refuse to ruin a good whiskey.
the whole time I was reading that for some reason I was picturing the drunk chick as chris farley on SNL.. LOL it just made it that much funnier...

Re: Won't be on the board
NOW I know why I like Rebecca: I am a beer (and wine) person myself. Though sometimes I'll get a vodka tonic. (Sometimes = 2x a year.)
Re: Won't be on the board
Mint juleps are drinks that us Northern Aggressors drink with our pinkies up and pretend we are at the Kentucky Derby. There's no place in our debauched and glittery lifestyles for something so, hmmm, un-froo foo! Seriously, homechick must have read a book on "How to Look 'Phistacated" before going out. Mint juleps, indeed!
Re: Won't be on the board
As long as you don't drink that sludge you Americans pass off as beer
I don't drink a lot of wine though... the odd glass from a local fruit winery, but not much else. Vodka tonic once in a while, I like the bite in a good, sour vodka collins better though.

She must have studied hard from the sounds of it, but forgotten that proper southern ladies don't drop the f bomb all that readily!59pearly wrote:Mint juleps are drinks that us Northern Aggressors drink with our pinkies up and pretend we are at the Kentucky Derby. Re: Won't be on the board
Sour suits me just fine. My Mojitos are more lime and mint than they are sweet.
One thing about us with beer, we drink it all, lol. Being in the hub of a melting pot of cultures any of it will do. I don't think I know any Canadian beers but drink American, Asian, Australian, Mexican, Jamaican, English and Spanish regularly. Now, if you just happen to want me to try Canadian beer, my address is.....

Re: Won't be on the board
I tried packing up a Rickard's Red for you, but it was empty by the time I found a box...
Re: Won't be on the board
Rebecca, I immediately went searching for distributors of Rickards in Los Angeles. After pages of googling, I found a statement that said Rickards was sold under the name Blue Moon here in the states. I found this page at a local store http://www.bevmo.com/productlist.asp?Ntt=blue+moon+beer&Ntk=All&D=blue+moon+beer&Nty=1

Um I born & raised in Montgomery Alabama the "f-bomb" falls frequently from these Belle like lips.
Mint Julips are ok if served properly (over crushed ice in a metal cup)
I preferred Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray and tonic.

Re: Won't be on the board
Joe C, as a beer and wine lover I am patiently waiting for a red wine or beer campaign. One of the BeeLog posters mentioned that she had bzzed the head honcho from Leinenkugel....I can't even believe he hasn't jumped on the chance to promote his brand because it is well loved but not well known here in Northern Michigan.
Hey, Blue Moon and Blue Moon Honeymoon are made in the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO. We were just there last month. It's the best factory tour ever! Hubby had a Blue Moon in the tasting room and they put a slice of orange in it to serve. I didn't get an orange slice in my Blue Moon Honeymoon. I wondered aloud to hubby why you wouldn't take the Coors factory tour every day after work if you lived in the area...3 free beers per person, and the non-drinkers and little people (not Little People...you know, kids) can have 3 soft drinks. Then on the shuttle back to the parking area we met a grandpa with his 3 grandkids...Gramps lived 2 blocks away from the parking area and was apparently "watching" the kids. LOL I had seen one of his grandkids sleeping with their head on the table in the tasting room earlier and I had tsk tsk tsked whoever the parents were that would drag their kids there like that.

Weird that they don't have the red. Their white is ok, but I prefer red.59pearly wrote:Rebecca, I immediately went searching for distributors of Rickards in Los Angeles.
