Some business' have no clue! Empty Some business' have no clue!

I have stayed at the same hotel in the same suite every year for a summer weekend with my mom.
as usual I booked online and called to have them apply the AAA discount. The clerk said they were not
offering discounts this summer. Surprised I asked why. They said because of the economy. I asked
oh "are you filling up??" He said "no, why?". I said because I would like to cancel the reservation I just
made and will book elsewhere. I found a nicer room with a better rate and they were happy to offer the
10% AAA discount.

Duhhh...I wonder how much business they will have to loose to figure it out.

LOL Sure makes you wonder.... ya'd think they would double the discount in hopes of GAINING some business.

I would think they would be willing to give you a room cheap, or at least meet the other deal. It's a shame that they are willing to give up money and not budge like that.

If I was CS and got a cancelled call, I would have done all I could to have kept that room for you! Oh my. they thought economy was bad? Well, what happens when they have no business because they will not accomodate?

I dont know if its a chain or what, but say its a ramada. CALL 1-800 ramada. TELL THEM. they get REALLY REALLY pissed about that stuff, or they used to when I worked at one.

heck, we could have people call us, make a reservation, then call and say we left them on hold for 3 minutes and Ramada would give them a 10% discount RIGHT then. and it came out of OUR pockets. cause they are individually owned.

OR we would NOT have a down stairs room, tell someone this, they would call the headquarters and next thing you know, they have overbooked us on DS rooms, OR bumped who ever they chose to inot an upstairs to put mr whineyass in a DS so he could be closer to his boat. Even if we had pROMISED mr 90 year old with 2 wooden legs a DS room.
I kid you not.

Sometimes they would even send them a voucher, and then make US pay for it. cause we did something wrong.

ITs been a while since I worked at a hotel, but things couldnt have changed THAT much.

At the very least write a letter to top management, might be worthless, on the other hand you might get a killer deal.

Wow, I have found more discounts than last year on hotels, not less. I booked us a room with a special low price, then used a coupon for an extra $10 bucks off a night. I also got double Thank You points and 2 /$50 gas cards to help with the drive.

Not a chain...they are a coast hotel. I think they have a sister hotel but thats it. The owner used to live on the property in his custom built hotel room. Now they have turned it into a 2 bedroom suite and he moved off property.

I would think they would be discounting to get people there, but they raised prices this year and no discount. Dont know why I didnt think about it before, but I think I will leave a response on trip advisor (I love that web site). Then I will write the owner and let him know I have posted a comment. Is this being too &itchy??

FYI my Dad recently stayed at a Mariott that not only offered free breakfast, but they also offered a free dinner. He said he has seen this a couple of times recently. Once they served burgers and a salad, the other time fajitas. Cool marketing promo!

I'd write a letter first, telling them that you are a repeat customer for many years and describing what happened. Give them an opportunity to rectify the situation. Then if they ignore that, go ahead and slam them.
