There's a bot!
Hey! there's a google bot here! I was looking to see who was online and it's just me and Dee and a bot!
Where did everyone go? I just looked not five minutes ago and there were 8 live human beings and now just 2 and a half.

Re: There's a bot!
Oops. Now it's gone. I thought I saw one from Yahoo the other day when I was looking to see if anyone was chatting. But I wasn't sure. The baby closed the page and when I put it back up it was gone.
Do you suppose the bot is in disguise?

Re: There's a bot!
A bot is a software program. I'm gonna look this up so I don't tell you wrong.
Wikipedia says: bots are software applications that run automated tasks over the Internet. Typically, bots perform tasks that are both simple and structurally repetitive, at a much higher rate than would be possible for a human alone.
I'd say that in this case, our bot is here to update the info they have on us so that if someone runs a google or yahoo search with the right key words, we would be one of the results.

great minds think alike... I too went to Wikipedia and read about bots, of course I didn't necessarily understand what I was reading, but got the gist, and your explanation made more sense to me

Re: There's a bot!
Sorry, I'm popping in and out while cleaning out my kitchen cupboards!
Bots are a good thing to see. Search engines send them out to active forums to gather keywords to help them index the site. If you Google "unofficial bzz" now we are the top search result, but just a few days ago we were 3 or 4 down. That happened because of the way the bot ranked us.

Re: There's a bot!
Whack-a-mole is an arcade game. Here's a picture.
http://www.drunkenblog.com/drunkenblog-archives/i/moleinside_zoom3.jpg
It has these robotic mole puppet things that come out of the holes on the top of the game. And you have a big foam covered mallet. When a mole pops up, you whack it with your mallet and the more moles you whack, the higher your score. Very politically incorrect but lots and lots of fun if you're a little kid. The bots remind me a little of the moles for no particular reason, and I have an "AH-HA!" kind of urge to do something exciting when I see them... don't know what cause I'm sure that whackin' 'em with a mallet would tear up my computer. And even if I could whack them I wouldn't because they're good things. But I do feel the urge.

Re: There's a bot!
Oh, and Kath, I do enjoy the book blog. But to here more about what your own opinion is, not just what the story is about. I have so little time to read that I'd like to know that the book is worthwhile before I start it. LOL
Re: There's a bot!
Devon and Sam have the kid's version of Wack a Mole. It's fun! I'd be awfully upset if anyone took the mallets to my computer though!
Re: There's a bot!
I was looking through the archives on Tara's blog (I think) and she had posted once how her daughter calls it whack-a-ho, and they finally got the game for her because they liked to here her say whack-a-ho.
Re: There's a bot!
Actually I do too! I never pay money for a book before I read a few reviews!
So I do enjoy writing the reviews.. I think I am getting better at it..
At first I was to worried about spoilers to write enough..
I think I am getting the hang of it though...
That is one reason that I like LibraryThing.. but it is responsible for making me want more books...
But its also responsible for getting me on the road to getting free books!

Re: There's a bot!
I don't blame you -- books can get expensive! I hate when I buy a book that dissapoints. It always seems like a waste.
Re: There's a bot!
I'm thinking I would like the Whack-a-Mole (initially, I was thinking Guacamole)... I've been plagued with moles for about 3 years... and have been on a war with them since. I just jump their mounds down or put stones in their holes... of course, they just come around in a different place. I HATE MOLES

Yeah it was me, lol. She was 2 and it was just funny and since we laughed she said it over and over. m We made her say it a few times but, mostly for my moms benefit- she can be extremely rigid and uptight and I'm the opposite so the look on her face when Saige said she wanted to whack a ho was so worth the 18.88 I paid for it.

I can lend you Satan.... my people hating cat. I didn't even know we had moles until the HUGE ( I say huge, the cat is tiny) corpses started appearing near the door. I think she found their home and killed them all, she is evil.
