Detroit Red Wings
Hoping for the Red Wings - only because of Gordie Howe and Stevie Yzerman.
Does anyone remember the original 6? I think they are:
New York Rangers
Boston Bruins
Montreal Canadians
Toronto Maple Leafs
Chicago Black Hawks
New York Islanders

Re: Detroit Red Wings
My various hockey pools are Wings heavy! Woo hoo, a shut out for Osgood tonight and Samuelson scored twice!
Will admit to being a long time staunch Leaf supporter (and can remember them last winning Lord Stanley's cup in 1967)!
BTW, the New York Islanders are not an original 6 team ............ Detroit is tho! NYI have only been in the NHL since 1972!

Re: Detroit Red Wings
I was a blackhawks fan for a good 25 years, but I find I just don't have time to follow sports like I used too.
The Chicago Bears are about team I follow anymore, but that's more of an obsession than a hobby.

Re: Detroit Red Wings
LOL I used to work for a Chemical company that had an office just south east of Toronto in Oakville. I was playing around with one of the office ladies there one day. She was famous for giving people grief. This time she was picking on me for being an American, so I told her "You're just angry because we stole your hockey!"
She came back with " You're right! Give us back our hockey, eh?"
EDIT: I meant Toronto, not Ontario.

Oakville is just west of Toronto (and both are in the province of Ontario). One of my best friends who is originally from England lives there. Ford also has a big plant there.
I think though that most of the players in the NHL might still be Canadian so technically it may still be "our" game! I can't say that with complete certainty though, especially now that there are so many Europeans in the league.

Re: Detroit Red Wings
Hope the Wings go all the way this year! I had my Wings jersey on in support of the team - they always win when I remember to wear it! They always win when I go to a game, too. So if anyone has some tickets and wants a guaranteed win I'm willing to take attend in your place.

Re: Detroit Red Wings
Hey, the Swedes are really getting to be a hockey powerhouse, aren't they?
I'm pulling for the Wings now too although I'm still loyal to the Leafs. This year really had me wondering about them though -- Yikes!

Re: Detroit Red Wings
I'm a huge Wings fan. My husbands company has season tickets so I get to go to several games and we have a room in our house with several autographed photos. My mother-in-law even has a picture of me with Stevie Y (at a charity dinner) hanging in her hallway with all her family pictures.
Lori - Who's jersey is lucky for you? Lately I've been wearing my Datsyuk and it's been working.

Re: Detroit Red Wings
I have a generic! They make so many trades, etc that I don't want to tie myself down. I got it at hockeyovertock.com for a song but it seems to work!
