Burn Treatment Empty Burn Treatment

Post by Starrlyte Mon May 12, 2008 9:41 pm

OK, I burnt myself fairly badly on Saturday with hot oil. I have a blister on my left pointer finger that's about 2 inches long and an inch wide. I got a holistic cream from my doctors office, but I have a wedding on 6/7th, and I don't think gloves are in fashion. Any really good ideas on how to get this healing quickly? The cream has Arnica montana and Urtica urens.

Any other suggestions?

If your blister has not burst, sterilize a needle and let the fluid out. But don't tear the skin off. Just make a small drainage hole. I've found they heal faster and look better that way.

Really? Doctor's office told me not to burst the blister. Said to allow it to drain on it's own.

You can get infected if you burst it. Docs usually advise against it, and once it bursts you leave that skin on if at all possible because the skin underneath is very raw.

I've tried both, and it was always faster when I burst it. But a lot slower if I took off the skin. Draining but leaving the skin seems fastest to me.

There is a medicane with silver in its name. I cant remember the rest of the name, but its for burns. When my husbands back was burned real bad by fire we put it on there (it didnt blister, it actually was burned off) and it healed up in a hurry!

I just cant think of the name.

Keep aloe vera on it. the real stuff, I would put the silver on there (you can only put it on so often) at night and then in the morning he got aloe vera for all day.

Silver sulfadiazine? It works well but I think it's RX only.

Arnica is super healing, so the cream may be good. I ususally use aloe, fresh from the plant is best. They are so easy to grow as house plants, I always have some available.

Hey honey, do you see any problem in using aloe with the arnica? I do have an Aloe plant in the house. The blister seems slightly smaller today. One Extra large band-aid is actually covering it! LOL!

I think it would be fine. I would be sure the aloe goo was really dried and soaked in before I applied the arnica cream.
