I got my taxes done (which was a bigger deal than normal because we started a business), and some home repairs made.

What kind of business Karen.. do you want to tell? Or have you and I forgot???

That is a brave thing to do, I think.

I have done nothing much outdoors yet. Just cleaned the garden so what is there can come up. Lots of tulips..and things. My trumpet vine is starting to green up.. it will conceal the mean neighbor that moved in a few years ago.

I don't plant til after mothers day, I live too far north.

Hmm ... do my teeth count? thats LL I can think of!

April's accomplishments Empty Re: April's accomplishments

When we moved the end of Sept.. our brand new $15,000 pool table was damaged by the movers. Dean has spent from October til this past week filling out stupid forms online.. calling leaving messages/emailing etc to have them do something about this pool table. This is a Brunswick table they no longer make.. they own the patent to the finish.. so it's not like just anyone can fix it.

Well I got petered off this week and decided to take matters into my own hands. I made 1 phone call to the company...said some not so nice things..threatened legal action.

This coming week they are having a representative from Brunswick come it and decide what needs to be done to fix the table. The company that crated the table did perfect w/it..took photos of it etc. It's the company that set it up that screwed it up. We want to sell it. Dean won it from the company (he works for Brunswick) when he won the President's Award .. the only person in the company's history to win that award 2 years in a row. But honestly, we don't use it. It maybe was played on 12 times. Right now the green is worn and looks horrible from the crappy way it was put together.. the company that set it up ripped 2 of the pockets.. deep chunks taken out of the wood.

So, that was my accomplishment for this month. If I dont get a phone call or a visit concerning this pool table this week.. May's accomplishment will be successfully launching a lawsuit against someone!

I've been cleaning up the gardens and putting in some early bulbs that will be ok with the frost. No planting annuals here until the beginning of June. Got the dog signed up for grade two obedience, the boys registered for t-ball, and did a whole pile of work for this place!

Kath, it's actually a used car business, LOL.

Scott has been a Physics teacher at a local university for years and years, but about two years ago the department started going south. A lot of mean spirited politics, etc. Then a year ago they did away with Scott's position within the department. He loved teaching, but he was tired of working for someone else. We live on a farm, but the area is becoming more urban. There is a lot of traffic that goes past daily. So he decided to start a business. He paid his way through school buying cars, fixing them up, and reselling them. So he decided to take some time to start a car business. If it gets big enough he'll hire someone to do day to day stuff so that he has more free time. If it flops, then it flops and we'll get over it. But at least he's had this time to make his own decisions, a thing which we all need from time to time.

Definitely a brave move Karen, how exciting and scary all at the same time. Best of luck to him!

I finally moved this huge bush/ shrub that has overtaken the front of my house. It's enormous, but I LOVE it, it has pink flowers all over when it blooms, I have no idea what it is. So I moved it, when we yanked it, it split so I replanted three new ones. I hope they survive. With any luck by the time May gets here my garden will be ready to go too, got the tiller just need 20 minutes to do it, lol.

Thanks. It is exciting and scary, but I love him and I would rather us be poor and than have anyone talk down to him and treat him without respect or consideration. That's what had begun to happen, so this is much better.

But the funny thing is, apparently it was bad for everyone, because word is that more than half the department has quit and the department chair is leaving. So Scott's actually wondering if he should look into going back. All the worst people are gone or going. And if he does go back, he's still keeping the business.
