this is so wrong....
Snow. I live in the south... okay not deep south, but none the less, the south. Monday we had 5" of snow dropped on us.
As if that weren't enough, today, it's 6" and still coming down.
In my 10 winters here... this by far exceeds any snow I've seen (well except pictures of other areas on the news and net).
However did I cope with 6 ft in Michigan? I'm going stir crazy!

Re: this is so wrong....
I really do feel bad for you guys who are getting such cold weather. We can snigger and call you wimps, but really, you're not prepared like we are for this crap. It has to be really hard finding the layers to wear every day. I was thinking about that as I walked to the mailbox today (-1 Below) all bundled up in my multiple layer coat, gloves, and boots.

Re: this is so wrong....
Oh Lori, trust me... we do have winter boots, heavy jackets, scarves, gloves and hats... (all of which we bought since being here as we got rid of lots when we moved from MI)... but our yearly snowfall average is 7" ... which I can deal with... but that's over a season, not 11" in just two storms in the same week!
Can we say cabin fever?

Re: this is so wrong....
I feel a bit bad for those unprepared... but in the same effect it's the opposite in the summer when I am whining once it peaks past 80 and they snicker at me. I will agree to feel bad for those Southerners stuck with snow.... as long as they agree to stay home. I fail to find the pity when I am stuck driving behind them, good thing I only have a midsize car cause if it were bigger I'm not sure I could resist the urge to push them along. Don't get me wrong, I drive slow when conditions call for it but when the roads are clear and it isn't coming down there is no reason to go 10 in a 65 zone... I have never seen it jump up from the sides to attack anyone and it really just pisses everyone else on the road off, lol. Perhaps I am just extra bitchy today (or I have gone to moms to many times this week stuck in Casino traffic) but I find it mind boggling that some of these idiots are afraid of snow but choose to come to NY NOW.
Average here is 122 in for the year. We are already at 139 with more coming this year! I've had enough. There have been dozens of roofs collapsing all over the place. I have my fingers crossed because no one is willing to do mine for less than an outrageous fee if they are willing at all because it's so high... (same reason we wont do it ourselves) But it's fairly steep, it's an OLD house but it was built right so hopefully we'll be good and we'll get a good warm day soon to melt it off before too much more shows up. I'm running out of driveway, it's shrinking with every time he plows it there is just nowhere left to put it.

Re: this is so wrong....
it is 22 here, right now. We are simply not used to this weather, and last week it stayed below freezing for 3 DAYS@! We had Ice, we had snow, we had sleet, we had SNEET! I have to put so many layers on Xman that he looks like the michelin man......38 days till spring...

Re: this is so wrong....
We just got over a couple weeks of -30 with the windchill...last weekend we had a heatwave of 30 and I was outside shoveling the steps off in a sweatshirt..lol But I'll say the same as Tara, I don't handle temps over 75 very well, anything warmer than that and I'm miserable..

Re: this is so wrong....
I prefer the cold, or really 50-65 degrees is ideal for me as far as outdoor temps. Heat affects the way I feel (sluggish and lazy) and the way I look (sweaty, red-faced, miserable).
Out temps have been cold, but not really unusual. Our snowfall is down. There's been a lot of evaporation going on here, with nothing fresh in over a week. If it keeps up, I can go outside and do some poo picking.

Re: this is so wrong....
We've gotten a couple "big" snows here in Alabama this year! I haven't seen snow like that since I was lil! Of course when it snows/ices here everything shuts down(roads, schools, Ect) because we just don't have the equipment to clear roads like northerners. I'm tired of winter now and am ready for hotter weather!!!!

Re: this is so wrong....
I am tired of winter- and am about ready to kill off old man winter- so far he has really screwed me over this year- and BR more so- LOL BUT, I DO NEED a few more COLD days- I wasnt able to butcher any hogs when BR lost that finger in our last cold weather- and have GOT to get them cut up- They are costing me a fortune!!
Re: this is so wrong....
well Chelle, I too am about ready to kill winter, as much as I'm anti-guns... if you want me to join you and have a way to do so, I'll abet ya....
Although, we have had a great week, and 62 coming tomorrow, but also with 2-3 inches of rain, possible hail, tornadoes, winds and floods... give me spring! even better give me Gawd awful hot/humid summer weather... I can deal. But sure don't like the cold and snow.

Re: this is so wrong....
It's still bitter cold here, but on the news this morning they put up a chart showing how far below average we are for precipitation since Dec. Honestly, we've had an easy winter up here. Just above half of what we normally get. Cold, but dry.

Re: this is so wrong....
we're having some pretty cold weather here too...a super cold front with rain. Potential for snow anywhere between 1000 to 2000 ft(elevation) on saturday evening. where I'm at, we're just below 1000ft. Well cold for San Diego...
It just doesn't warm up very much during the day...
I'm ready for 80s and lots of sunshine...I'd even take triple digits just to have warm weather!
cold weather and I don't get along!!!!

Re: this is so wrong....
We're getting a nice mixture of bitter cold and snowfall here. The kids have actually had a lot of indoor recesses because of the cold -- they never do that here! We got more snow last night and it looks like we're going to be getting more at some point today. I haven't seen a winter with this much snow in years!
Re: this is so wrong....
Rebecca I am from TN and I can relate! I am actually sick of the cold weather...However you have had agreat deal more snow than Memphis. We are under a severe weather watch (ie possiblity of tornados) but it is 68. March is coming in like a Lion instead of a lamb!

Re: this is so wrong....
LOL! I'm not sure that someone from TN (Tennesee if I'm correct) can relate... I'm from Canada. We've had a lot of days around -20 Celcius here in the past few months, but we're up to just below freezing now. It's nice in a way, but as I look out my window now I think I see some freezing rain hitting the window. Hopefully that switches back to snow!
Re: this is so wrong....
We've had 30 inches above "normal" snowfall this year. More coming tomorrow. I will be so happy to see Spring, the winter blues are kicking in, I have had enough.
Re: this is so wrong....
Was 75 here today, but really really humid, and now having a cold front....should get down to 50...

Re: this is so wrong....
It is all relative I suppose. Memphis only sees about 2inches of snow a year but this year I think we are up to 14 inches. This year is the most I have seen in about 20 years.....Since I am a native, anything in the 20 degree ranage for days is toooooo much for me.....Give me the dog days of h*ll anyday.....

We are lucky if we get 2 inches of snow every decade or so.....we didn't get any this year, but last year we got 3 inches.....go figure

Re: this is so wrong....
Catherine, here in KY (60 miles NW of Nashville), we normally see 7" max... but in one week this year, we got 12" and several smaller amouts before that...
Then last night we had horrible rains, and a tornado touch down in my county and several areas had power outages even still this morning... another bad storm on it's way for Sunday... geesh, I'm with you, give me the 90 dregrees and 100% humidity SOON ~
