Good, I just recieved the Credit Recognition Transcript in the mail today. She looked over his portfolio and looked at his work, and talked with him and us. We scheduled a half hour but ended up being there for about 2 hours. Then we talked about what he should include in this fall (his senior years) courses.

I have to mail copies of the Credit Recognition Transcript and the Portfolio Assessment to the Maine State Board of Education and the local area Superintendant of Schools along with a Subsequent Notice of Intent to Homeschool for the coming fall..these all have to be sent certified mail, I also get a tracking#, and return reciept. This way they cannot say they didn't recieve the paperwork. I've heard that sometimes they try to say they didn't recieve the paperwork, so it's best to cover my a$$ and send it that way.

That's great, Kelly! I always love getting feedback on what I'm doing and what I need to do, especially from someone who really knows what their doing.

This lady is a treasure trove of information. There are things that we didn't even know JJ could get credits for. His bicycle riding, weight lifting, etc. stuff that he does normally can be counted as a physical education credit, if he logs his hours (160 hours a year=1 credit). If he gets a job and puts in for Work Study he can get a credit for that. If a child was to play an instrument, cooking, sewing, any stuff like that it can be considered fine arts. Of course it has to be documented. JJ wants to go into the Navy when he's done homeschooling. Mrs Shirley has talked to various recruiters and had many students go on to the military from homeschooling and knows what might be the best classes for him to take. I'm glad that I have her to recommend stuff to me (of course I pay her for her time..lol) but still..
