'Shrooms
Dh and I took a drive out to MILs house today. When we left, we got 3/4 of the way down the driveway and I yelled "STOP!". Nearly gave DH a heart attack. I guess I didn't need to yell like that, but I had seen some good size morels growing right there along the driveway, clear as day. We picked some and left some for MIL. I checked my mushroom guide when we got home and they're true morels, not the false ones. YIPPEE! MIL says she has never noticed them growing there before, and we haven't either.

Re: 'Shrooms
When we lived in MI, in the springtime, Chuck would go into the woods/edge of (we lived on 10 acres of woods) and he'd find gobs of them. He loved them, I didn't (don't like any kids of sh'rooms)... when our friends learned we had them all over, of course they asked, could they come up and look for/pick them, we'd say "sure" knowing by the time they're get there, Chuck would have gotten them all LOL.. we learned a very short window for them. Other then MI, have not heard a lot about them.

I refuse to eat one. PERIOD.
I dont want them cooked in my food, on my food, stuffed near my food, or on the table with my food.

Re: 'Shrooms
Our upscale restaurants here create special menus that feature morels in season. Depending on how plentiful they are in a given year, they may fetch $40-$75 per pound. I've only just recently been on the lookout for them, and we don't talk pounds, we talk single digits as far as our findings go.
