About washed off the map
Yesterday was a total terror. We had downpours of rain. I live not far from a big creek, that can get out of control fast, and yesterday was no exception. It came up to the street that is in front of us, and this is the worst flooding I have seen since 1997. The water went down fast though. Round two starts tomorrow with strong thunderstorms and heavy rain predicted. We can't handle much more rain. I have seen the water to the corner of our street before and we live three houses from there, and that was getting too close for me. That was the same time they were cutting off electric to peoples homes due to being afraid it was going to get into the electric boxes of the homes. We didn't have power for a day or so, and it was in the summer...that was fun....NOT

Re: About washed off the map
Oh no! I'd be freaking out. I live up on a hill and we never come close to flooding. I hope the water stays where it's supposed to!
Re: About washed off the map
We live on a grade/incline, so if we would ever get flooded, alot of other people are going to be in trouble. We just get shut off and can't get out. We do try to get a vehicle out and onto the street above us just in case we would need to get out of the subdivision. But sometimes it catches us by surprise like it did yesterday. There is already flood watches out for tomorrow..not sounding good.
The neighbors down the street usually bring their cars etc up in front of our house, because they do get flooded. I've had 4-wheelers & trailers, backhoes, cars, trucks, riding lawn mowers all parked at my house at times.

Re: About washed off the map
Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms -- this board really has it all, don't we? Hope you're safe and dry over the next few days!
Re: About washed off the map
It started raining about two hours ago. It has been heavy since it started. We are suppose to get hit really hard around 8pm. Depending on what happens at the vet, I am hoping to be back home by then. It takes me about 30 minutes to drive it when the weather is good. I'm going to leave myself an hour to drive down there in this rain. The road I need to take was shut down Monday due to flooding, I hope it doesn't flood before I get home. I could stay with my in-laws, but they aren't pet people, and I REALLY don't want to stay there. My brother lives not too far from the vet, but I would rather be home.
And NO, I will not go through water no matter how shallow it looks. I'll sit in a vehicle all night before that happens.

Oh boy, missed this message yesterday. Yes, the rains are supposed to be bad again today. Hope you stay safe and DRY! I'm like you, I'd rather be home, but safe is the most important. Keep that old puppy calm too. Good luck, will be thinking about you. Hope you can check in so we know you are ok.

I'm glad you made it home. Is the water rising closer?

Glad you're home. I'll have to read the other thread to see how the dog is now...
Re: About washed off the map
Actually the rain stopped when I got there. No rain on the way home..that I can remember anyway. The creek is up, but still in the banks, they are still saying we could get it good. I hope for once they are wrong.Lucky wrote:I'm glad you made it home. Is the water rising closer?

Re: About washed off the map
We are under another flood watch..it is pouring now. Heavy storms & rain are coming now with it being very heavy tomorrow. With all that has happened this week, I am ready to just throw my hands up and say I give up..what's the deal am I cursed??? I keep wondering about Karma..but can't think of a thing I have done wrong.
Lucky are you getting hit with all these storms and rain, or is it between us? I haven't looked at the radar yet to see if it is up your way.
Karen what about you? I know it is coming thru KY too.

Re: About washed off the map
It just started rolling in within the last half hour. It's not you hon, it's supposedly hit other states earlier today, and it is a strong storm. You've had a lot hit you this week, take a deep breathe and get a nice glass of lemonade or something to cool off. It's nothing you've done.

I'm fine. Apparently there was a lot of damage about 10-20 miles from us, but here it just rained hard.
Dee? You OK?
Re: About washed off the map
I'm not sure how much it rained during the night, but the worst of the rain and storms went to the southern part of the state. From what the news is saying this morning, I guess they got slammed and are flooding bad.

Re: About washed off the map
We had some roof damage (and now ceiling damage, LOL) last night from the high winds and rain. But I'm happy that we're all safe and the damage is only in one small area.
