Does anyone else do this?
I realize I should probably stop, but I just snapped that I do this.
I will NOT pay $1.50 for a 2 liter Dr pepper, or any other soda, I buy them on sale and stock up. But, I WILL pay $1.50 for a 20 oz Dr pepper from the convenience store when i get gas, which is almost every day.

Re: Does anyone else do this?
no..... I never buy 20 oz. If I am desperate I will stop and get a 6 pack of the big bottles and take the rest home. Even at full price of $4 for the 6 pack it's still a better deal and bigger bottles too. Of course I am not opposed to drinking warm soda either.
Re: Does anyone else do this?
I am opposed to drinking Warm Dr Pepper, bad side effects....LOL
I wonder if i can get a 6pack of cold ones

Re: Does anyone else do this?
LOL! I used to. I'm getting better about that now. Scott is still bad for it, though.
Re: Does anyone else do this?
If I'm going to be away from the house for more than a couple of hours, I put a small cooler with blue ice in the backseat with a bottle or can or two of Diet Coke and a half liter bottle of water.
No way will I pay inflated prices for pop or water when I'm out! It's non-frugaliscious!
Shame on all of you who do unless it's an extreme emergency! You could lose your standing in the Frugal Hall of Fame that way!

Re: Does anyone else do this?
lol Nyssa.
I am also opposed but keep finding the bottles- from hubby. You would think with all my bitching about how you could have had three sodas for that price he would at least hide the evidence, but no.

Re: Does anyone else do this?
I wash soda bottles in the dishwasher (top rack)...fill an 1/8th of the bottle with water an lay it on it's side in the freezer. I have probably 20 of them in there all the time. Everyone in my household grabs a bottle and fills it with water on the way out the door. I never leave home without at least one, and I usually use the tall ones for myself.

Re: Does anyone else do this?
This is all true what you say about the waste, high cost, and alternatives to buying soda. But sometimes when I'm traveling and I know I have a 3 or 4 hour drive before I get home - it feels so good to go in and choose a tasty bottle of soda to drink on the way home. I feel a little spoiled, even though I know I'm worth it. Plus, I figure that it's keeping Americans in jobs, too, since as far as I know, our soda is still made in the USA.

Re: Does anyone else do this?
We reuse the bottles, we freeze them and use the ice in coolers for fishing, ball games etc. When we are done we rinse, and refreeze. Cheaper than buying ice, and stays colder longer, so there is my justification....LOL

Re: Does anyone else do this?
Erin, Yes I do. LOL
I actually quit buying and drinking DR pepper a few months ago. I never thought I would. I drank at least 8-10 a day. Every day. from when I woke up , until I went to bed. I have for many many years. I guess at least 16 years. before that, I drank 4-5 a day for about 5 years.
ANyway, So, I quit, I just couldnt afford to keep on buying me 12 packs and BR 12 packs of sodas. And they very seldom go on sale here.
Anyway, yes, EVERY time I go to town, I stop at the store down the road adn get a 20 oz.
And its MY treat. I dont leave the house every day. And I honestly cant remember the last time that I left the house to do something for ME. hair cut, new clothes, shopping with the girls? Nope. months. if not years. yep years... Honestly. So, since I go to town 3-4 days a week, always for someone else, I fiqure I deserve that ONE Dr Pepper.
Its MUCH cheaper than what I used to spend. And I have no willpower. If I get a 12 pack, bring them home, to ice and take back, I will drink them all in one day. I know.... I have tried... LOL
so thats how I justify it. My 1.50 aint crap compared to the Deisel I am spending on them, or how much fruit alone they will eat in one day.. or milk they will drink.. LOL

Re: Does anyone else do this?
Well I must confess...I am an addict. I love Dt Dr Pepper, and it is outragious here with no coupons ever in sight. I have an addiction to Walmart's Dt Dr Thunder. It is alot like Dr Pepper, but not exact. I figure at .78 (when I first started on it, it was .50) for a two liter I will drink it and pretend it is the real thing. I drink too much of the stuff. I do get an occasional Dt Dr Pepper once in a while.

Re: Does anyone else do this?
I have never seen the cherry flavor around here. I'll have to keep an eye out and try it. I always loved cherry coke too, the fountain kind where they added the cherry syrup....talk about an addiction. When I first went to work at the hospital they made them in the snack bar, then they remodeled and done away with them.

Ditto. I'll buy a fountain drink instead of the bottle, which is cheaper, and not put any ice in the cup. That lasts for me on a long drive, which I don't do often. A silly 99cent fountain drink 3-4 times/year is a huge splurge for me!
Re: Does anyone else do this?
I LOVE sonics Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper. But dont like the bottled DR Pepper with Cherry adn Vanilla.
I have to have something to drink at all times. From the time I wake up, until I go to sleep, I have something in my hand-drinking it. At least 2 to 3 gallons a day.

Re: Does anyone else do this?
I used to do that, and now, we only buy 20 oz, if Tim ran to the store and grabbed me one to just have on hand- or if we are driving back to Chicago to visit- need something to drink in that 2 hour drive!
Re: Does anyone else do this?
I don't buy the bottles but I DO buy the 32 oz fountain drinks if we are on a trip. They are .99 which is still outrageous when you consider the price of a two liter but they are my "treat".. not very often but I do it.
Re: Does anyone else do this?
We finally got the Cherry Dr Pepper. I really like it and like the Diet better than the regular.
