Niiiiicce...someday I plan on getting one of those (you know, the day when the kids move out on their own and the bills will be cut in half) You will have to post pics of the stuff you make with it!

Cool! Do you do a lot of embroidery? I know someone with a basic embroidery program on her machine and I was envious that she could put names on aprons and stuff. It would be cool to be able to do a quilt label in embroidery, too. My handwriting is rotten.

Re: It's on it's way!!
I did do alot before the storm. I had my own business doing sewing and embroidery. I didn't order the same one i had before though, I kinda upgraded bit. My Dad had given me Xmas money, and i have been saving it. I combined it with what the insurance paid for my other one, and bought a little better one, anbd all the stuff to go with it.
I am impressed with amazon, they said it wouldn't ship until the 6th, and it shipped yesterday, and is out for delivery already.
this is the one I got, my old one was a singer, and not the best. It has good reviews, and DH's aunt has it, I have used it and LOVE it. I also got the software to do my own designs or download them

YOu can freehand a name, with a basic sewing machine, if you remove the foot . That's how my granny did all her embroidery.....I always get my fingers though.

Cool! I know Amazon.ca has had really fast shipping times the past few months -- they must be really trying to keep customers during the recession! Looks like a nice machine.
Re: It's on it's way!!
Erin, I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but a while back my hubby did end up buying me the Brother sewing machine you suggested..and Wynonna and I have been using it, it works great. I needed something basic for now...and I am happy with it. I took a peek at the one you got and you know that is a pretty good deal and looks like you can do all kinds of cool stuff with it!

Re: It's on it's way!!
I'd be more jealous if I wasn't so overwhelmed by looking at all those buttons. It looks like it takes a month's worth of study to figure out how to use it, LOL. But I would like to learn one day. I've seen some things people have made with similar machines and it looks like so much fun.
Re: It's on it's way!!
It is actually very user friendly, right out of the box. I like that you don't have to use the foot pedal, and can embroidery while doing something else, it stops when it is done.

OK, then. Now I am more jealous. But you deserve it. You lost so much in the hurricane/flood. I won't begrudge you anything, even a super-cool bit of technology that I lust after, LOL.
Re: It's on it's way!!

Re: It's on it's way!!
nice!!
I used to embrodier by hand. (growin up I was a throw back to the 1800's. I had to learn to sew and emborder, and cross stitch by hand. LOL )
I can remember the day my grandmother finally let me use her machine to embrodier something. It was so cool to watch.
Of course by hand I couldnt do small things like names and such.
I had some beautiful samplers, some quits I made, curtains and all kinds of stuff. All our bedspreads, curtains, wallhangings and doily cloths and such were made by me.
But I havent touched a sewing machine or a needle and thread in 4 years, unless I have to have a button RIGHT then.
ITs great that you are getting back into it! I cant even imagine what Bow would DO to a sewing machine, if left alone for 2 seconds.. LOL
(and YES, I DO tell him no, slap his hand, tan his hide, the kid doesnt care. He is tenacious to say the least..... )
