I know of one person here who will be delivering a baby while she evacuates. Is there anyone else that will have to go? If you do, be sure to let us know that you're safe ASAP!

You'd better learn! The way things are going, DD's gonna be having that bundle of joy right smack in the eye of the storm.

Has her turkey-timer popped? I always had my babies within just a few days of my belly button becoming an outie.

I am in Gustav's path, directly in it's path evidently.
I have only been on the giving end of the birthing, not the receiving end. Scary business I tell ya.

I am watching th enews, but I think the news people are all biased. our city leaders are all calling for us to get out (we aint near NO) But the TV wants it so bad to hit NO again (its better news to hit there then to hit here) that they are really showing that prjection more.

YET our people are telling us its gona hit in far western La, then take a direct westerly path. Right over the top of my house. I think I am just going to sit here and wait. Smile

Of course if its anything like the hurricane that never was all y'all will hear about is how it effects NO, that you wont see what happens in the real town it hits.

True. Where's Jim Cantore ? NO ?

We are already having awful freakin storms from the feeder bands. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll take a feeder band any day over the storm itself ... thunder is shaking the house now.

Chelle, I do hope you and edbson are prepped to get the hell out if'n you need to.

Erin has already left beachy, she is down on the coast. I am up a little higher on the Texas La border.

The last huricanne symbol that you see on the maps is where I live.

I dont plan to leave. I see no point. I either have enough money to leave, or have enough to run a generator for the month it will take to get electric back.

But Erin is in a storm surge area.
And has a VERY overdue pregnant daughter. Matter of fact, she evac'd to an area about 30 minutes from me. LOL

She will get more of the huricanne here, but no storm surge. THey started mandatory evacs out of Jasper today for the sick and elderly. The mandatory evac (what they call it, they wont drag us out of our homes) starts at 6am.

I fiqure they will cancle school with in the next day or so.

I completely missed that Erin left. Thank God.
And yeah Chelle, reading all that you wrote, it's like I know exactly what you're feeling. You guys and those of us in FL live this every year.

I'm a clasic underreactor ...... but this one is scary. Do you at least have a solid pace to go for when the storm moves thru ? Is your house OK ?

My house is an ugly solid block home. It's one you WISH would blow away, but never will. The roof maybe, but even that is flat, the wind doesn't get under it so much. My mom is in a manufactured home, she's mandated to leave all the time. Most of the time she does, she comes here, and Im closer to the beach. 3 miles away actually. Makes no sense. lol

Problem with FL is, there's not much of a way outta here. A few highways up, and they are all clogged when a storm comes.

LOL beachy, yep, y'all get lost in the drama of NO too. Sad LOL

I live in a trailer. Smile I think its a manufactured home, or some crap. But to my way of thinkin, it was brought in on wheels, and I still have the tounges, so its a damn trailer. LOL

I wont be staying here, I will go to a real house. and no, we were just talking about FL. (hubby and I) y'all get it from all 3 sides. and that damn fay wouldnt leave. LOL

And your right, going UP is the only way for you to go. If for some reason DH gets a wild hair and MAKES me evac (kicking and screaming) I will go south. TO my dads in central TExas. Thats my only choice. Everyone else is going north. and most are stopping here. LOL They have came from the south and cleaned out our shelves and taken all our gas.. Sad

Well it makes me feel a little better that you have a real house to go to. I've never evacuated for a storm, closest I came was going to my best friend's house 10 miles north of mine when Charley hit.

Well, when the path of Katrina was unknown, Dalton and I thought about flying to Canada. Then it turned west, and we were safe. The thing is here, if you're gonna get out, you gotta git EARLY. And that's the reason no one leaves. Storms are so unpredictable, to spend the 16 hours it would take to get to Alabama ( 6 hours normally ) and then the storm turn or die .....

Combined with my jobs. I've been locked in the hospital on the medical team during storms. Now, I'm the HR for my store, and I have to make sure everyone else is OK. Makes it hard to just run away.
