Re: SCARLETT
I miss yall soooooooooooooooo much!
Not only am I working, raising kids etc....my brother who works for the Dept of Defense is currently on assignment in WDC so he has been coming to visit me every weekend.
Honestly I think of everyone here at least fives times a day.
I'm sure some of you know the old Todd Rundgren song
I don't want to work
I want to bang on the drum all day
I don't want to play
I just want to bang on the drum all day
Well instead of banging my drum I want to be on the UB all day

Re: SCARLETT
The job is ever bit is crazy & insane as I expected.....but pay-day makes it worth it.
My daughter has stepped up and been much better at caring for her children so I have had my weekend to relax.
Last Saturday morning I left my house at 9am with plans to meet a group of friends and do a little riding; at 3pm I was jumping out of an airplane.

Re: SCARLETT
Awesome Scarlett! Looks like quite the thrill. Have you ever done it before? Great slideshow, thanks for sharing with us. Sounds like life is good- your daughter being more of a mom, your brother nearby. I'm thrilled for you, even if I do miss ya!
Re: SCARLETT
Oh Scarlett... what a wonderful watch, and the music, my gosh, between that and the photo shots, it brought tears to my eyes. You are such a free spirit!

Re: SCARLETT
Thanks Dee,
Missy inspired me with her cool slide shows.
Long story behind the sky diving trip.
It's been a life long dream for me & I missed an opportunity to jump a few years back due to some stupid lifestyle decisions on my part.
In 1999 I was supposed to dive with my brother, (he’s the big tattooed guy in the first few pics) he was a “Jump master” at the time and he was going to tandem with me but on the day of the dive I was too hungover to make the trip. He had a motorcycle accident in 2004 and now he’s too physically broken up to jump anymore. On Saturday he arranged for me to go with one of his old Army buddies.
I lost a dear friend/fiancée a few years ago to leukemia, when he died I decided to live every day as if it's my last.
My next challenge is to go scuba diving.

Re: SCARLETT
Scar! That looked like so much fun! I'm so happy that you got to do that!
We miss you terribly, too. But I'm happy that your daughter is stepping up and taking on some responsibility. It must be the biggest relief!

Such a touching story, and yes, I agree, it's important to live every day as if it were your last.
And I did do the scuba diving. DH and I lived in the San Diego area for several years. He took lessons and I would go along on a boat trip or two, and was very jealous of him diving with some pretty hot ladies. So I took lessons, scared as I was, and developed a big crush on my dive instructor (only 10 years my junior L\ )
Eventually, DH and I would go diving at least once a weekend, mostly in La Jolla Cove, which is absolutely gorgeous -- not just above the water, but below. So I would be intent on watching the surroundings... and would see things that Chuck would not, so would grab his flipper and point out to him, a stingray, or a sea turtle. We'd take little bags of fish food bait with us, and I'd sit on the bottom and hold up a little fish bait, and schools of fish would swarm around me... and eat right from my fingers. Oh what a wonderful experience.
And a trip to Avalon from time to time was the most magnificant experience... the beauty that lies below the ocean is hard to describe.
So by all means... GO FOR IT. Now maybe I need to think about trying sky diving

Re: SCARLETT
Holy COW!
Your smile truly does say it all! I'm so proud of you for taking that jump ( I am so chicken!)
I can scuba dive though, but I don't think that takes the guts that diving does.
Sounds like things are really going well for you. Isn't it funny how everything shifts?

Re: SCARLETT
Oh no Beachy- I think scuba diving is incredibly brave.

LOL Tara!
My best friend is crazy afraid of sharks. We have them here in FL, and she'll only go into the ocean up to her thighs.
It stems from her big brother putting her on a raft in the pool when she was 3 (and couldn't swim) then pushing her out to the middle of the pool and telling her sharks were going to eat her!
I've seen lots of baraccuda and eels and bull and nurse sharks when diving. The bull sharks are the scariest though. Thankfully, the one that I saw most often was at John Pennekamp in Key Largo. It's the nation's only underwater national park. That shark kind of lives there and is used to people. Otherwise, I might be a little mortified!

Re: SCARLETT
Makes me very glad I live inland, I am scared if minnows like some people fear spiders (although I don't like them either, lol) getting gold fish was a big step for me.
Re: SCARLETT
What is it about fish that scares you Tara ?
I mean, I don't like to eat them, but I think they're OK to look at

Re: SCARLETT
everything, the scales the eyes the teeth or lack there of. I just hate them. At my dads family camp there is a gigantic stuffed fish on the wall and that thing gave me nightmares for years- I swear I NEVER slept a wink at camp, I would rather have been out in the woods with the bears then near that damn stuffed fish. I don't eat them either.

I know a fear isn't funny, but I do think your fear of fish is kinda cute. lol

Re: SCARLETT
I am not laughing at you, Tara. I have quirks enough for a whole family! Mostly, my quirks are food related, but I can totally understand having feelings that don't make sense on a logical level.
Re: SCARLETT
LMAO don't even get me started on food quirks...... I think I finally convinced my inlaws to give up on me as far as food goes. I very peculiar in what I will eat and how I will eat it. I can not and will not eat a chicken wing. I like chicken, I just can not eat meat cooked with a bone inside it and I certainly can not bring myself to gnaw that meat of a bone like an animal. I do not let anything on my plate touch anything else on my plate, or I can't eat it.... it goes on and on.
Oh the fish makes perfect sense to me... they are nasty, ugly creatures that live and breathe in their own filth. It's other people who seem to think I'm a bit nuts
jokes on them though, I am a lot nuts.

You sure have been living it up without us! Post more pics so we can all live vicariously through you! I am glad you are able to find the odd moment to stop by though!
Re: SCARLETT
Been missing you around here Scar!! Glad you had fun sky diving. I could never do that, I am too terrified of heights. I can't even climb a step stool. lol
Hope you get a chance to pop in more in the upcoming weeks!
