Oreo Cakesters
So when I first joined here, I kept hearing you guys all talking up the Oreo Cakesters. I finally couldn't stand it anymore, and I went and bought a package. Wow, was I surprised. These are very close to a recipe I used to make when my daughter was little.
Anyone remember them? For what it's worth, I have never made this without doubling the recipe.
Whoopie Pies
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Cream Together
6 TBSP Crisco
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
Then add and blend
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
5 heaping TBSP cocoa
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
Drop by TBSP on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7-10 minutes.
Filling
3/4 Crisco
3/4 cup confectioners sugar
6 TBSP Marshmallow Fluff
Whip in mixer until light and fluffy. Add 1 tsp of vanilla if desired.
Spread between two cooked chocolate cakes.
Makes about 1 dozen sandwiches.

Re: Oreo Cakesters
ooh they sound good! I don't think I've never heard of them before. Is that the recipe before or after it's doubled?
Re: Oreo Cakesters
Yup, I make whoopie pies all the time here, though lately I make Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Whoopie Pies with either the regular filling or I make cream cheese frosting to put in the middle. I do make the regular Whoopie pies too, actually I made them last week. They freeze really well so you can make them ahead of time and pull them out of the freezer when you want a quick treat. On a cool day I make up a couple batches and freeze them, that way when it's hot, I don't have to bake.

Re: Oreo Cakesters
Pumpkin Chocolate chip sounds good too, and maybe a bit healthier?
I noticed the oreo cakesters now come in a nilla flavor. I'd imagine you could use a thickened golden cake mix to get the same affect. It's almost like muffin tops. You could use a muffin top pan to make nearly any flavor. Cool.
