SYNC - ford & mobile phones
I bought a new car this week, a '12 Ford Fiesta (Lime Squeez Green), equipped with SYNC, but I need a smart phone, currently have a dumb one, ie, no blue tooth.
My service is with Virgin Mobile, which I plan to stay and upgrade to a "smart" phone.... any one have experience with either?

I used Bluetooth for years before I got my Smartphone last October. Your phone just has to be equipped with Bluetooth in order to synch with the car.

Re: SYNC - ford & mobile phones
I love my new car,but honestly, rarely use my Virgin Phone (maybe long distance or a call to DH from Walmart asking what kind of yogart he wants)... I pay $5 a ,month and have never run out of minutes)... if I update to a bluetooth ($59 for the phone on sale, not bad) but it will cost me $35 for 300 minutes or $45 for 1200 minutes... (anytime minutes); unlimited data is free... so I don't know if that means if I ask SYNC for the weather or directions, if those are minutes or data.. I'm so techno challenged.

Re: SYNC - ford & mobile phones
Congrats on the new wheels! We just bought a Ford Fusion last week and it has Sync too. I can't say I like how it works with my iPhone, but I'm sure Microsoft wants to make it as difficult as possible to use an Apple product with their Sync software...

We looked at the fusion and focus.. both too big for me, no need for a family sized vehicale... still so much I don't know/understand. my dealear did contact them with my concerns about Virgin Mobile It is a list on the Ford SYNC website and I believe iPhone was included. but I will be calling them again tomorrow to double check before I buy the upgrade phone.
hopefully Rebcecca you'll work out your issues quickly, as will I.

If you're both having issues there must be lots of problem-solving happening right now. I'm sure they'll get things fixed. The SYNC may have been a selling point for many people, and they'll want to make them happy or risk losing them.
Congrats on your new car too, Rebecca!

Re: SYNC - ford & mobile phones
So I just may stand corrected here. I was in a car crash with my Escape (we've had it for a few years) on Monday. My insurance covers the cost of a rental so the rental place gave me a 2013 Ford Edge with all the bells and whistles. Looks to me like the newest version of Sync works just fine with my iPhone. Maybe they are working out the kinks now.
Oh and for the record, I don't recommend the Escape -- wasn't really a fan before the crash, like it even less now that I know the crash was due to a problem with my breaks (my breaklights were on, but my truck wasn't slowing down!), but the Edge is awesome!

OMG that's horrible and really scary! I have to say that although they're cutI never liked FORD cars since I had one in college and it was in the shop every other month
